Ollie Giles, President San <br />Marcos Neighborhood Association, stated the neighborhood association was opposed to the 2:00 <br />a.m. bar closing. She stated 75-80 percent of the citizens are also opposed to the bar hours. <br />David Powers, of Paper Bear, stated he was not necessarily concerned with the 2:00 a.m. bar <br />hours as he was with the street traffic and violence that comes with the hours. He also stated the <br />Council should consider the temporary extended bar hours during the months of September and <br />October when a larger number of people frequent the bars. John Morrisset stated he opposed the <br />2:00 a.m. bar hours. He stated concerns with the litter and would like to see San Marcos keep <br />their quality of life. John Holtermann, Texas Silver Haired Legislator, stated he did not feel the <br />city would benefit financially with extended bar hours and stated concerns regarding health care. <br />Mayor Morris introduced for consideration approval of seven appointments to the Senior Citizens <br />Facility Advisory Board. Mr. Cox moved to appoint William M. Logan, which passed <br />unanimously. The remaining appointments will be rescheduled for the next meeting. <br />Mayor Morris introduced for consideration a public hearing and adoption of a Resolution , the <br />caption which was read as follows: <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, <br />TEXAS, APPROVING THE USE OF A 5.5 ACRE TRACT OF CITY PARK <br />PROPERTY FOR THE CONSTRUCTION OF AN ACTIVITY CENTER; AND <br />DECLARING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
