EXHIBIT A: SERVICES
Consultant will provide geotechnical engineering design services for the Project. The purpose of
this engagement will be to evaluate surface and subsurface conditions within the Project limits to
develop geotechnical parameters that may be used in the preparation of design guidelines and
specifications and construction documents for the planned Project.
A. PROJECT INFORMATION
Based on information provided to us, we understand that the Project will involve the design and
construction of a replacement wastewater line within the alignment of Columbia Avenue in San
Marcos, Texas. The line will be about 1,900 linear feet and run from Marlton Street on the north
and Prospect street on the south. Expected depth for the manholes on the wastewater line range
from 9 feet to 23 feet deep.
If any of the above information is not correct, please contact us so that we can make the necessary
modifications to this document.
B. SERVICES
Services to be provided by Drash will involve three segments of work: 1) Field, 2) Laboratory, and
3) Engineering. These segments are outlined herein.
Field
The field program will involve drilling 4 borings. Borings at intersections of Columbia Street and
Hazelton Street, Advance Street, Brown Street and Prospect Street will be drilled to 10 feet, 25
feet, 20 feet, and 15 feet respectively. Drash will obtain right-of-way and lane closure permit and
on-site traffic control. Permits or waivers, if required, for drilling in the Edwards Aquifer Recharge
Zone will be the responsibility of Alan Plummer Associates, Inc.
Laboratory
The samples recovered during drilling of the borings will be tested in our laboratory to determine
their index and engineering characteristics. The laboratory tests will be performed in accordance
with applicable geotechnical industry standards.
Engineering and Report
Using the field and laboratory data collected for this project, geotechnical engineering analyses
will be performed to provide the following information:
Specifications for selection of construction materials to be used backfill.
• Specifications with regard to placement and compaction of general site materials,
pavement subgrade, fill areas, and backfill areas.
An engineering report will be prepared that will include the above information. The engineering
report will also include:
Boring location plan depicting the location of the borings drilled for the Project.
Drash Agreement No. PG 1161277
Columbia Street 2
Wastewater Line Replacement
San Marcos, Texas
11= rash
C0 NS 11LTNNTS
