Hays County Hazard Mitigation Plan, Hays County Annex <br />1.3 Incorporation of Sources <br />Organize and Review <br />In addition to stakeholder and public input, the MPC also reviewed other County planning resources that <br />could provide useful information for the plan update process. Considered incorporation for objectives to: <br />• Coordinate existing and future County plans <br />• Coordinate with local plans <br />• Hold a Water Summit with Cities, MUDs, developers, River <br />Authorities, Conservation Districts, water conservation and <br />environmental groups <br />• Support the Edwards Aquifer Authority’s efforts to implement <br />Hays County Strategic <br />impervious cover restrictions <br />Policy and Implementation Plan <br />• Increase education and outreach to residents on the importance of <br />Plan 2010 <br />water quality, quantity and preservation <br />• Work with AgriLife extension and landowners to support Texas <br />Watershed Steward Program, brush management, creekside <br />conservation, and other efforts to protect water quality and quantity <br />• Incorporate Water Quality Best Practices into all road projects <br />• Work with TxDOT, developers and others to focus their mitigation <br />projects where most beneficial <br />(Hays County, 2010) <br />Reviewed in order to consider recommendations: <br />In the northwestern and north central portion of the County: <br />• Expand water conservation efforts and use of rainwater collection <br />systems in lieu of using limited Trinity groundwater; <br />• Expand water reuse opportunities <br />In the northeastern portion of the County: <br />• Expand water conservation efforts and use of rainwater collection <br />systems in lieu of using limited Edwards groundwater <br />In the southwestern portion of the County: <br />Water and Wastewater <br />• Expand water conservation efforts and use of rainwater collection <br />Facilities Plan for the <br />systems in lieu of using limited Trinity groundwater <br />Plan <br />Portion of Hays County <br />• Expand water reuse opportunities <br />West of the IH-35 Corridor <br />In the southeastern portion of the County: <br />• Expand water conservation efforts and use of rainwater collection <br />systems in lieu of using limited Edwards groundwater <br />Countywide <br />• The County and other jurisdictions within the County should continue <br />to promote and incentivize water management actions that are <br />more sustainable, including broad support for water conservation <br />and reuse, and rainwater collection systems as an alternative to <br />groundwater <br />(HDR Engineering, Inc., 2011) <br />4 <br /> <br />
