(1) Charles
Soechting, representing Jack Weatherford, stated they want Item 5 on the
agenda, a rezoning matter, to be sent back to the Planning and Zoning
Commission for fine tuning and not considered by the City Council at this
meeting. (2) Harvey Ginsburg stated he had been before the Council last
February to request the Council address drunk driving in San Marcos.
Local newspapers recently printed information about the Hays County Task
Force actually providing alcohol to a teenager. Dr. Ginsburg stated if
this information is accurate, this even injures the reputation of good law
officers. He expressed a need for the local law enforcement to be re-
examined, and stated no alcohol should be provided to minors for any
reason. (3) J. W. Childress stated he lives in the Sendera Addition off
Bishop and opposes the rezoning of the Weatherford property (Item 5 this
agenda). (4) Dorothy Childress stated since Item 5 (rezoning Weatherford
property) was not going to be considered by the City Council, she did not
wish to speak. (5) Charlotte Wood stated she resides on Ramona Circle and
does not understand why the Weatherford matter has taken so long to
resolve. She is in hopes the City Council will determine what is best for
the City and considers what the citizens want. She asked the Council if
they thought it was unreasonable to zone the Weatherford property multi-
family. (6) Carolyn Pate stated she resides at 404 Hughson Drive and
agrees with Ms. Wood's comments. She stated if the Weatherford property
was zoned multi-family, traffic issues would become tremendous and would
cause environmental issues with the water supply. She stated there are
trees on the property that are 100 years old that probably will not
continue to exist. She stated the automobiles from this property would
emit more pollution, and two other apartment complexes are now adding 500
additional automobiles to the area. She stated there would be traffic
safety and environmental issues with this rezoning. (7) Sara Kirkpatrick
advised the Council she is interested in being appointed to the Cemetery
Commission, and that her family has resided in this area for 100 years.
(8) Mark Hodges stated he lives at 510 Franklin and has lived in San
Marcos for four years and is presently living in his grandmother's house.
