141 <br />Regular Meeting April 27, 1998 Page 3 <br />Mayor Moore opened the public hearing and asked if anyone wished to speak. There were no <br />speakers so Mayor Moore closed the public hearing. Mr. Hernandez moved for adoption of the <br />Zoning Ordinance and Mr. Hart seconded the motion. Ms. Hughson asked if this was an <br />extension of "R-1". Mr. Patterson stated Russell Smith will develop the property as four single- <br />family homes. On roll call the following vote was recorded: <br />AYE: Mihalkanin, Hart, Moore, Guerra, Cox, Hernandez. <br />NAY: Hughson. <br />ABSTAIN: None. <br />Mayor Moore introduced for consideration a public hearing and adoption of a Zoning Ordinance, <br />the caption which was read as follows: <br />AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, <br />TEXAS, AMENDING THE OFFICIAL ZONING MAP OF THE CITY BY REZONING <br />0.379 ACRE TRACT OF PROPERTY LOCATED IN THE 1300 BLOCK OF DELMAR <br />STREET FROM "R-1" SINGLE-FAMILY DWELLING DISTRICT (LOW DENSITY) <br />TO "DP-1" DUPLEX DISTRICT (LOW DENSITY); INCLUDING PROCEDURAL <br />PROVISIONS; AND PROVIDING FOR PENALTIES. <br />Mayor Moore opened the public hearing and asked if anyone wished to speak. Joe Schneider <br />stated he was available to answer any questions. Ms. Hughson stated she did not want to expand <br />a duplex district and would like to see it remain single-family. Mr. Cox asked how many other <br />duplexes were in this area. Mr. Schneider explained there was one on virtually every corner. <br />There were no other speakers so Mayor Moore closed the public hearing. Mr. Hart moved for <br />adoption of the Zoning Ordinance and Mr. Guerra seconded the motion. On roll call the <br />following vote was recorded: <br />AYE: Hart, Moore, Guerra, Hernandez. <br />NAY: Mihalkanin, Hughson, Cox. <br />ABSTAIN: None. <br />Motion passes. <br />Mayor Moore introduced for consideration adoption of an Ordinance on emergency, the caption <br />which was read as follows: <br />AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, <br />TEXAS, AMENDING THE TRAFFIC REGISTER MAINTAINED UNDER SECTION <br />82.067 OF THE SAN MARCOS CITY CODE BY THE ADDITION OF MULTI-WAY <br />STOP SIGNS AT THE INTERSECTION OF CHEATHAM STREET AND RIVERSIDE <br />DRIVE; INCLUDING PROCEDURAL PROVISIONS; AND PROVIDING FOR <br />PENALTIES. <br />Mr. Hernandez moved for adoption of the Ordinance on emergency and Mr. Mihalkanin <br />seconded the motion, which passed unanimously. Mr. Guerra requested a stop sign be put up <br />quickly at Dartmouth and Columbia. <br />Mayor Moore introduced for consideration adoption of an Ordinance on emergency, the caption <br />which was read as follows: <br />AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, <br />TEXAS, AMENDING THE CITY BUDGET ORDINANCE FOR THE 1997-98 FISCAL <br />YEAR TO PROVIDE FUNDING FOR THE HUNTER ROAD UTILITY <br />RELOCATION PROJECT; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY.
