Hopkins <br />I. Call To Order <br />With a quorum present, the regular meeting of the San Marcos City Council <br />was called to order by Mayor Thomaides at 6:02 p.m. Tuesday, September 18, <br />2018 in the City Council Chambers, 630 E. Hopkins, San Marcos, Texas 78666. <br />II. Roll Call <br />Present: 7 - Mayor Pro Tem Lisa Prewift, Council Member Saul Gonzales, Deputy Mayor Pro <br />Tem Scott Gregson, Council Member Melissa Derrick, Council Member Jane <br />Hughson, Mayor John Thomaides and Council Member Ed Mihalkanin <br />III. Invocation <br />Associate Pastor Bruce Conned with Community Baptist provided this <br />evening's invocation. <br />IV. Pledges Of Allegiance - United States And Texas <br />V. 30 Minute Citizen Comment Period <br />Marlene Moriarity, introduced herself to the community and Council and is <br />submitting her application for the Commission on Children and Youth. She is <br />excited for the opportunity to work for and with the children in the <br />community. She enjoys what the community has to offer and looks forward to <br />giving back. <br />Sharri Boyett, addressed the Council regarding the San Marcos Regional <br />Animal Shelter. She expressed her appreciation for the extra funding, but <br />reminded Council that the killing will not stop with the new budget additions <br />alone. She passed out pictures to give the issue "a face". She provided <br />information on the next steps needed and how a no kill resolution needs to be <br />approved and adopted and regional goals need to be set for a 2020 program. <br />She asked about the adoption trailer because it was granted months ago. The <br />shelter lacks transparency and marketing to show the pets online. There must <br />be a call for an increase in fostering animals and provide resources for those <br />looking to surrender their animal. The shelter staff could do so much more and <br />ciwo/san Marcos Paae 1 <br />
