Ted Marchut, 200 Camaro Way, San Marcos, Texas, addressed ongoing traffic issues on <br />neighborhood streets. They are being used as shortcuts, leading to speeding and drunk driving. <br />People are afraid to have their children play outside. He met with the Police Chief and was told <br />he would need overtime approved. Mr. Marchut requested that the City Council speak to the <br />Chief to get his information and approve the requested overtime. He said it should be revenue <br />neutral due to the number of traffic tickets that would be issued. <br />9. City Council Reports <br />A. Report on Envision Central Texas and Municipal Matters 101 seminar by <br />Deputy Mavor Pro Tern Kim Porterfield. <br />Deputy Mayor Pro Tem Kim Porterfield stated that Envision Central Texas addresses growth <br />pressures on Bastrop, Caldwell, Hays, Travis and Williamson counties. She reported what they <br />are doing and provided the City Council with a handout. <br />The highlight of the Municipal Matters 101 event was a Taser demonstration. In addition to <br />other topics, she received information on Sexually Oriented Business regulations. <br />B. Update on CAMPO and CAPCOG by Mayor Susan Narvaiz. <br />Mayor Susan Narvaiz reported on CAMPO project status and a new project process. They are <br />• also working on revising their bylaws. <br />She also reported that we put in a JAG request and went through the CAPCOG process for <br />regional projects. We did not get the grant, and there was much debate at the CAPCOG meeting <br />in defense of project. She thanked the Police Chief and Commander Nichols for sharing the <br />process issues. She voted with the board with the caveat that the process be reviewed. <br />10. Staff Reports <br />A. City Manager Rick Menchaca will report on the tour provided to the Texas <br />Department of Transportation staff. <br />City Manager Rick Menchaca reported that Carlos Lopez is now the District Engineer with <br />TXDOT. Mr. Lopez, along with his key staff, was brought up to date on our transportation <br />issues and was given a tour of the Wonder World Extension Project. <br />CONSENT AGENDA <br />11.
