42 Regular Meeting March 16, 1998 Page 2 Mayor Moore introduced for consideration an appointment to fill a vacancy on the Emergency Medical Services Board. Mr. Guerra stated he will remain on the board until after the election in May. Ms. Hughson suggested having staggered terms for the Council members serving on this board and to draw lots for the terms. Mayor Moore introduced for consideration an appointment to fill a vacancy on the Community Action Board of Directors. Mr. Guerra stated he would remain on this Board until after the election in May. Mayor Moore introduced a public hearing regarding an annexation, the caption which was read as follows: AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCil., OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, TEXAS, ANNEXING TO THE CITY A TRACT OF LAND CONTAINING 4.566 ACRES, MORE OR LESS, LOCATED ON THE SOUTHEAST SIDE OF THE 400 BLOCK OF STAGECOACH TRAil.,; APPROVING A SERVICE PLAN FOR THIS TRACT; PROVIDING FOR PUBLICATION AND DECLARING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. Mayor Moore opened the public hearing and asked if anyone wished to speak. There were no speakers so Mayor Moore closed the public hearing. Mayor Moore introduced for consideration a public hearing and adoption of a Zoning Ordinance, the caption which was read as follows: AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCil., OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, TEXAS, AMENDING THE OFFICIAL ZONING MAP OF THE CITY BY REZONING A 0.22 ACRE TRACT OF PROPERTY LOCATED AT 1304 BISHOP STREET FROM "R-l" SINGLE-FAMil., Y DWELLING DISTRICT (LOW DENSITY) TO "DP-I" TWO F AMil., Y DWELLING DISTRICT (LOW DENSITY); INCLUDING PROCEDURAL PROVISIONS; AND PROVIDING FOR PENALTIES. Mayor Moore opened the public hearing and asked if anyone wished to speak. Curt Morrison stated he was present to answer any questions. Mr. Guerra asked if any neighbors were opposed to the Zoning change. Mr. Patterson stated no one in the immediate area opposed the change. There were no other speakers so Mayor Moore closed the public hearing. Ms. Hughson stated this Zoning change would change the character of the neighborhood. Mr. Guerra moved for adoption of the Zoning Ordinance and Mr. Hernandez seconded the motion. On roll call the following vote was recorded: AYE: Mihalkanin, Hart, Moore, Guerra, Hernandez. NA Y: Hughson, Cox. ABSTAIN: None. Motion passes.
