11. <br />Regular Meeting May 11, 1998 Page 4 <br />DISTRICT (MEDIUM DENSITY); INCLUDING PROCEDURAL PROVISIONS; AND <br />PROVIDING FOR PENALTIES. <br />AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, <br />TEXAS, AMENDING THE OFFICIAL ZONING MAP OF THE CITY BY REZONING <br />A 1.071 ACRE TRACT OF PROPERTY LOCATED AT 2112 IH-35 NORTH FROM <br />"R-1" SINGLE-FAMILY DWELLING DISTRICT (LOW DENSITY) TO "C" <br />COMMERCIAL DISTRICT; INCLUDING PROCEDURAL PROVISIONS AND <br />PROVIDING FOR PENALTIES. <br />Mayor Moore introduced for consideration approval of an Ordinance on second reading, the <br />caption which was read as follows: <br />AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, <br />TEXAS, PROVIDING FOR AN EXEMPTION TO TIMED PARKING RESTRICTIONS <br />FOR HOTEL GUESTS BY AMENDING ARTICLE 4 AND ADDING ARTICLE 7 TO <br />CHAPTER 82, TRAFFIC AND VEHICLES, OF THE SAN MARCOS CITY CODE; <br />INCLUDING PROCEDURAL PROVISIONS; AND PROVIDING FOR PENALTIES. <br />Ms. Hughson moved for approval of the Ordinance on second reading and to amend the <br />Ordinance to read "hospitality tags" and Mr. Mihalkanin seconded the motion, which passed <br />unanimously. <br />Mayor Moore introduced for consideration removal from the table and adoption of a Resolution, <br />the caption which was read as follows: <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, <br />TEXAS, AWARDING A CONTRACT FOR JANITORIAL SERVICES TO JANIKING; <br />AUTHORIZING THE PURCHASING MANAGER TO EXECUTE CONTRACT <br />DOCUMENTS ON BEHALF OF THE CITY; AND DECLARING AN EFFECTIVE <br />DATE. <br />Ms. Hughson moved to remove the Resolution from the table, consider the Resolution for <br />adoption and amend the Resolution to award the contract to American Maid Janitorial Service in <br />the amount of $304,300.56 annually with a statement finding they are a responsible bidder and <br />Mr. Mihalkanin seconded the motion. The Council directed performance problems be <br />documented in writing to the contractor. On roll call the following vote was recorded: <br />AYE: Mihalkanin, Hughson, Moore, Guerra, Cox, Hernandez. <br />NAY: Hart. <br />ABSTAIN: None. <br />Mayor Moore introduced for consideration removal from the table and adoption of a Resolution, <br />the caption which was read as follows: <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, <br />TEXAS, APPROVING AN EXTENSION OF THE CITY'S WATER SYSTEM <br />OUTSIDE THE CITY LIMITS FOR A PORTION OF THE PROPOSED LAURAL <br />ESTATES DEVELOPMENT OFF IH-35 NORTH; A WAIVER OF THE <br />REQUIREMENT FOR USE OF THE CITY WATER SYSTEM AS A PREREQUISITE <br />TO USE OF THE CITY SEWER SYSTEM FOR A PORTION OF THIS <br />DEVELOPMENT; APPROVING AN EXTENSION OF THE CITY'S WASTEWATER <br />SYSTEM TO SERVE THIS DEVELOPMENT; AND DECLARING AN EFFECTIVE <br />DATE. <br />Ms. Hughson stated she filed an Affidavit of Disclosure form and would be abstaining from the <br />discussion because she owns property in the area. Mr. Cox moved to remove the Resolution
