44. Regular Meeting February 26, 2001 Page 3 Mayor Chiu opened the public hearing and asked if anyone wished to speak. Don Garrett of Randall Morris Properties stated he was present to represent the owners of the property and recommended the City Council vote in favor of this rezoning. No one else wished to speak, so Mayor Chiu closed the public hearing. Mr. Cox moved for adoption of the Ordinance and Ms. Hughson seconded the motion, which passed unanimously. Mayor Chiu introduced for consideration approval of an Ordinance on first reading, the caption which was read as follows: AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, TEXAS, AMENDING SECTION 62.027 OF THE CITY CODE TO ALLOW THE POLICE DEPARTMENT TO SET TIMES FOR THE PROVISION OF FINGERPRINTING SERVICES; INCLUDING PROCEDURAL PROVISIONS; AND PROVIDING FOR PENALTIES. Mr. Moseley moved for approval of the Ordinance on first reading and Ms. Tatum seconded the motion. Chief Griffith stated they plan to make the service available three days a week at set times. Ms. Hughson asked that the hours not be changed too often, the hours be made known to those who answer general Police Department inquiries, and that they be placed on the website. The Council voted unanimously for approval of the Ordinance on first reading. Mayor Chiu introduced for consideration approval of an Ordinance on first reading, the caption which was read as follows: AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, TEXAS, ADDING A NEW DIVISION 18 TO CHAPTER 2, ARTICLE 3 OF THE CITY CODE TO ESTABLISH A TRANSPORTATION ADVISORY COMMISSION; AND INCLUDING PROCEDURAL PROVISIONS. Ms. Hughson moved for approval of the Ordinance on first reading and Mr. Doiron seconded the motion. Ms. Hughson suggested this be a Board rather than a Commission and also the powers and duties to include the board accepting concerns and suggestions from the public regularly. Mr. Taylor will draft language for the second reading. The Council voted unanimously for approval of the Ordinance on first reading. Mayor Chiu introduced for consideration approval of minutes of the Regular Meeting held February 12, 2001, approval of four Ordinances on second reading, adoption of two Ordinances on third and final reading, adoption of five Resolutions and approval of Change Order No. 3 to the Eastside Interceptor II and IH35 Relief Sewer in the amount of $103,251.07 for additional footage associated with the realignment of the gravity sewer at Clovis Barker Road and the reconstruction of Peter Garza Street on consensus. The Council removed Items 14, approval of Ordinance on second reading, 16, removed from table and adoption of Ordinance on third and final reading, 17 and 19.5, adoption of Resolutions, to be considered separately.
