The remaining Mayor Chiu introduced for consideration approval of three appointments to the Planning and Zoning Commission. Mayor Chiu moved to reconfirm the appointment to Randy Rogers (who completed training after the 3-month period) and appoint Kevin Brumley as the ETJ representative to complete a vacancy, which passed unanimously. The Council then considered names for the alternate position. Mr. Moseley placed the name of Homer Guerrero (City) into consideration, Ms. Hughson placed the name of Jodie Polk (ETJ) into consideration and Ms. Tatum placed the name of Sherry Benn (ETJ) into consideration. Mr. Doiron then moved Homer Guerrero (City), Jodie Polk (ETJ) and Sherry Benn (ETJ) be contacted to confirm their eligibility and to set up their interviews (Monday, April 16, 2001) and Ms. Tatum seconded the motion, which passed unanimously. Mayor Chiu introduced for consideration approval of an Ordinance on first reading, the caption which was read as follows: AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, TEXAS, AMENDING CHAPTER 2, ADMINISTRATION, OF THE CITY CODE TO ADD A NEW SECTION 2.569 TO PROVIDE FOR A PREFERENCE TO LOCAL BIDDERS IN THE AWARD OF CONTRACTS FOR PURCHASES BY THE CITY; AND DECLARING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. Mr. Doiron moved for approval of the Ordinance on first reading and Mayor Chiu seconded the motion, which passed unanimously. Mayor Chiu introduced for consideration approval of an Ordinance on first reading, the caption which was read as follows: AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, TEXAS, AMENDING CHAPTER 62, PUBLIC SAFETY, OF THE CITY CODE TO PROVIDE FOR ASSIGNMENT PAY FOR VARIOUS SPECIAL ASSIGNMENTS IN THE POLICE DEPARTMENT; AND DECLARING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. Mr. Doiron moved for approval of the Ordinance on first reading and Ms. Tatum seconded the motion, which passed unanimously. Mayor Chiu introduced for consideration approval of an Ordinance on first reading, the caption which was read as follows: AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, TEXAS, ADDING A NEW CITY CODE SECTION 62.028 TO AUTHORIZE THE USE OF COMPENSATORY TIME BY POLICE OFFICERS; INCLUDING PROCEDURAL PROVISIONS; AND DECLARING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
