Ms. Hughson also stated during the public hearing process the <br />City stated they help publicize local fitness businesses when Activity <br />Center classes are full. This would be at their regular rates, not as <br />part of the Activity Center, but it would help publicize them. She also <br />stated other aerobics classes available in the community and their charges <br />should be posted at the Activity Center on a regular basis. <br /> <br />Mayor Chiu introduced the City Manager's Report. Mr. Gilley stated in <br />connection with the Tanger/Prime Advertising Agreement, they are to <br />provide a recap of the activity by April 15. They have asked for an <br />extension to May 25 because they want to wait until the end of their <br />current advertising campaign. The Council agreed it made sense to receive <br />the report at that time. (1) Ms. Tatum stated the <br />Council needs to decide the process for the Planning and Zoning Commission <br />interviews. She wants the interviews to be open, and has heard from <br />constituents who do not want the process to be done in private. Ms. Tatum <br />stated the Council needs to reach these decisions. Mr. Moseley agreed and <br />stated the process needs to achieve what the Council wants. (2) Ms. <br />Hughson stated during the Budget Workshop the Council stated they would <br />like to have some preliminary budget information so that Mr. Gilley can <br />receive direction regarding a potential tax increase. Mr. Gilley stated <br />the process will begin April 30, and Staff will have approximately two <br />weeks to put their initial requests together. Mr. Gilley stated by the <br />end of May, the Council will have some budget information. (3) Ms. <br />Hughson stated the Council has requested some information from CARTS and <br />is interested when CARTS will provide the information requested. Mr. <br />Gilley stated a CARTS report will be presented the first meeting in May. <br />(4) Mr. Cox stated a citizen has asked him if the City had a smoking <br />ordinance and was advised there is one in place. <br /> <br />Mayor Chiu introduced an Executive Session pursuant to the Government <br />Code, Section 551.074, to discuss the duties of the City Council. Ms. <br />Hughson moved to adjourn into Executive Session at 9:20 p.m. and Mr. <br />Doiron seconded the motion, which passed unanimously (Mr. Moseley not <br />present for this vote). <br /> <br />Mr. Doiron moved to reconvene at 9:42 p.m. and Mr. Mayhew seconded the <br />motion, which passed unanimously. <br /> <br />Mayor Chiu introduced a discussion regarding expenditures from the <br />Economic Development line item and direction to Staff.
