<br />186. <br /> <br />Regular Meeting <br /> <br />December 10, 2001 <br /> <br />Page 12 <br /> <br />Mayor Chiu introduced for consideration Item 20 removed from the consent <br />agenda, adoption of a Resolution, the caption which was read as follows: <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, TEXAS, <br />APPROVING A SOLE SOURCE PURCHASE OF TRAFFIC CALMING CUSHIONS FROM <br />TRAFFIC SAFETY SYSTEMS, INC.; AUTHORIZING THE PURCHASING MANAGER TO <br />EXECUTE CONTRACT DOCUMENTS ON BEHALF OF THE CITY; AND DECLARING AN <br />EFFECTIVE DATE. <br /> <br />Mr. Mayhew moved for adoption of the Resolution and Ms. Tatum seconded the <br />motion. Ms. Tatum asked what traffic calming cushions are, and Mr. Gilley <br />described them as being softer material than the speed humps at City Hall. <br />The Council voted unanimously for adoption of the Resolution. <br /> <br />Mayor Chiu introduced for consideration Item 23 removed from the consent <br />agenda, remove from table and adoption of a Resolution, the caption which <br />was read as follows: <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, TEXAS, <br />APPROVING AN AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE CITY AND VOELZEL ARCHITECTURE FOR <br />THE PROVISION OF PROFESSIONAL SERVICES IN CONNECTION WITH THE GEORGIA <br />STREET SENIOR CITIZEN CENTER PROJECT; AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO <br />EXECUTE THIS AGREEMENT ON BEHALF OF THE CITY; AND DECLARING AN <br />EFFECTIVE DATE. <br /> <br />Mr. Mihalkanin moved to remove this Resolution from the table and Ms. <br />Tatum seconded the motion, which passed unanimously. Ms. Hughson moved <br />for adoption of the Resolution and Mr. Cox seconded the motion. Mr. <br />Mihalkanin stated he wants to know the total cost of the project and how <br />much per square foot. Mr. Cobb stated the amount includes construction of <br />the building, demolition and construction of a parking lot. Mr. <br />Mihalkanin stated he wants the cost of the items separated. Ms. Hughson <br />stated she wants assurance after the completion of Phase 1 we will be able <br />to add additional phases easily. Mr. Gilley stated the architect could <br />design Phase 1 and provide conceptual designs for Phases 2 and 3. Ms. <br />Tatum stated she thought the architectural fees could be reduced. Mr. <br />Gilley stated a breakdown would be provided at the next meeting. Ms. <br />Hughson then moved to table this Resolution to December 17 and Mr. Mayhew <br />seconded the motion, which passed unanimously. <br /> <br />Mayor Chiu introduced for consideration Item 24 removed from the consent <br />agenda, adoption of a Resolution, the caption which was read as follows: <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, TEXAS, <br />APPROVING THE 2001 AIRPORT MASTER PLAN PREPARED BY COFFMAN & <br />ASSOCIATES; AND DECLARING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. <br /> <br />Mr. Mayhew moved for adoption of the Resolution and Ms. Tatum seconded the <br />motion.
