City Council Meeting Minutes April 16, 2019 <br />into these parks. <br />There being no further comments, the Public Hearing was closed at 8:34 p.m. <br />NON -CONSENT AGENDA <br />11. Consider approval of Ordinance 2019-11, on the first of two readings, amending Chapter <br />38, Fire Prevention and Protection, of the San Marcos City Code by, among other things, <br />providing that the Fire Marshal shall be appointed by the Fire Chief and revising the local <br />adoption of and amendments to the 2015 edition of the International Fire Code, including <br />the addition of penalties for violations and providing that no culpable mental state is <br />required for violations of this chapter; providing for the repeal of any conflicting provisions; <br />and providing an effective date. <br />A motion was made by Mayor Pro Tem Prewitt, seconded by Council Member <br />Gonzales, to approve Ordinance 2019-11, on the first of two readings. The <br />motion carried by the following vote: <br />For: 7 - Mayor Pro Tem Prewitt, Council Member Gonzales, Council Member Derrick, Mayor <br />Hughson, Council Member Mihalkanin, Council Member Marquez and Council <br />Member Rockeymoore <br />Against: 0 <br />12. Consider approval of Ordinance 2019-13, on the first of two readings, updating and <br />revising Chapter 18, Article 3, Food Establishments and Food Vending Machines, of the <br />City Code by repealing the current provisions and replacing them with provisions <br />consistent with State law governing food establishments; including procedural provisions; <br />and providing an effective date. <br />A motion was made by Mayor Pro Tem Prewitt, seconded by Council Member <br />Mihalkanin, to postpone Ordinance 2019-13 to the May 7th Regular City <br />Council Meeting. The motion carried by the following vote: <br />For: 7 - Mayor Pro Tem Prewitt, Council Member Gonzales, Council Member Derrick, Mayor <br />Hughson, Council Member Mihalkanin, Council Member Marquez and Council <br />Member Rockeymoore <br />Against: 0 <br />13. Discuss and consider appointments to the Census 2020 Complete Count Committee, <br />and provide direction to staff. <br />The following citizens were appointed to fill the following positions on the <br />Census 2020 Complete Count Committee: <br />City Council Representatives - Council Member Gonzales and Council <br />Member Rockeymoore <br />Texas State University Representatives - Dr. Rosanne Proite and Margaret <br />Yackel <br />City of San Marcos Page 12 <br />
