Hopkins - Work Session <br />630 East Hopkins <br />San Marcos, TX 78666 <br />City Hall Conference Room <br />With a quorum present, the work session meeting of the San Marcos City <br />Council was called to order by Mayor Hughson at 3:03 p.m. Tuesday, March <br />19, 2019 in the City Hall Conference Room, 630 E. Hopkins, San Marcos, <br />Texas 78666. <br />Present: 7 - Mayor Pro Tem Lisa Prewitt, Council Member Saul Gonzales, Council Member <br />Melissa Derrick, Mayor Jane Hughson, Council Member Ed Mihalkanin, Council <br />Member Joca Marquez and Council Member Mark Rockeymoore <br />PRESENTATIONS <br />1. Hold discussion regarding possible amendments to the City of San Marcos Charter, and <br />provide direction to Staff. <br />Mayor Hughson asked to postpone the discussion regarding possible <br />amendments to the San Marcos City Charter to a later date. All members of <br />Council were in favor. <br />2. Receive a presentation and hold discussion regarding the Parks Master Plan Revisions, <br />and provide direction to the City Manager. <br />Drew Wells, Interim Director of Community Services, provided a presentation <br />regarding the Parks Master Plan. Mr. Wells discussed the planning steps up to <br />this point in the process. These steps include, inventory which started in the <br />summer of 2017, next was public engagement which included stakeholders, <br />citizens, and staff that began in late 2017. The next step was the analysis & <br />preliminary recommendations developed by Halff and Associates were <br />completed in Spring of 2018 and this was brought before the Parks Board and <br />the Planning and Zoning Commission for their recommendations. The final <br />step would be implementation and approval by Council. <br />Mr. Wells went into detail on how a well thought out Parks Master Plan can <br />benefit the community. Environmentally this plan will outline the <br />City of San Marcos Page 1 <br />
