Mayor Chiu called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. Mayor Chiu introduced the Citizen Comment Period. (1) Dave Newman referenced the P&Z appointment process on the agenda. He encouraged the Council to allow participation of the community in the selection process. (2) Carol Coughlin asked the City to help keep an eye on SWT's construction project, and to help keep San Marcos safe. Mayor Chiu introduced Item 36.5, a presentation by Hays County Commissioner Bill Burnett. Commissioner Burnett reviewed with the City Council the proposed road improvements and parkland/open space that will be covered in the Hays County Bond Election to be held June 2, 2001. He advised the Bond Election will cover only the most immediate needs, and there is no plan to increase the County's tax rate. Commissioner Burnett advised the map is available for review by citizens at City Hall and at the County Courthouse. * Ms. Hughson was not present at this meeting.
