<br />235. <br /> <br />Regular Meeting <br /> <br />May 21, 2001 <br /> <br />Page 8 <br /> <br />Mr. Mayhew moved to remove from the table and for adoption of the <br />Resolution and Mr. Moseley seconded the motion. Mr. Cox stated he is <br />concerned about the visual impact and proliferation of overhead lines in <br />the City. He stated Mr. Jim Pendergast has called and talked with him and <br />that he is satisfied, but is still interested in the long term impact. <br />Mr. Pendergast stated they are certified by the Texas Public Power <br />Association and provide high capacity fiber lines from point to point for <br />several businesses, including MCI and Century Tel. They provide <br />competitive rates and alternative routes and provide service to Austin, <br />San Marcos, San Antonio, New Braunfels and Schertz. He does not <br />anticipate more than ten miles of lines over the next few years in San <br />Marcos. They do not serve single-family homes, but only serve commercial. <br />Ms. Hughson asked if the City has any control over these matters, and Mr. <br />Taylor stated the City can determine routing, but it is more difficult to <br />require lines to be buried. The Council voted unanimously for adoption of <br />the Resolution. <br /> <br />Mayor Chiu introduced the City Manager's Report. <br />at this meeting. <br /> <br />Mr. Gilley had no report <br /> <br />Mayor Chiu introduced the City Attorney's Report. <br />report at this meeting. <br /> <br />Mr. Taylor had no <br /> <br />Mayor Chiu introduced the City Council's Report. (1) Ms. Hughson <br />requested Staff provide all members of the Parking Advisory Committee with <br />agendas for the Planning and Zoning Commission and Zoning Board of <br />Adjustments and Appeals. Mr. Gilley stated this would be done. Mr. Cox <br />added if Staff knows of a specific downtown parking issue, it would be <br />helpful to point that out to the Parking Committee as soon as possible <br />before it appears on a Zoning Board of Adjustments and Appeals or Planning <br />and Zoning Commission agenda. <br /> <br />Mayor Chiu introduced an Executive Session pursuant to the Government <br />Code, Section 551.086, to discuss commercial or financial information the <br />City has received from a business prospect with which the City is <br />conducting economic development negotiations, or to deliberate the offer <br />of a financial or other incentive to such a business prospect (Eastern <br />Development Companies). Mr. Mihalkanin moved the Council adjourn into <br />Executive Session at 8:25 p.m. and Mr. Mayhew seconded the motion, which <br />passed unanimously. <br /> <br />Mr. Mihakanin moved the Council reconvene at 8:40 p.m. and Mr. Mayhew <br />seconded the motion, which passed unanimously. <br /> <br />The meeting adjourned at 8:41 p.m. on motion made by Mr. Moseley and <br />seconded by Ms. Hughson. <br />
