Ms. Tatum stated she wants to keep the <br />Commission in place. Mr. Mihalkanin stated the Commission needs to <br />recommend what they think the functions of this Commission should be. Ms. <br />Huffman stated this will be taken back to the Commission for their input. <br />Ms. Tatum stated she wants them to consider ongoing activities for youth, <br />including the Youth Summit. Ms. Huffman stated this matter will corne back <br />to the Council after receipt of the Commission's recommendations. The <br />Council unanimously voted Nay to the Ordinance on first reading. <br /> <br />Mayor Chiu introduced for consideration approval of an Ordinance on first <br />reading, the caption which was read as follows: <br /> <br />AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, TEXAS, <br />AMENDING SECTION 2.566 OF CHAPTER 2, ADMINISTRATION OF THE CITY CODE <br />BY INCREASING THE CITY MANAGER'S PURCHASING AUTHORITY FROM $15,000 TO <br />$25,000; AND INCLUDING PROCEDURAL PROVISIONS. <br /> <br />Ms. Tatum moved for approval of the Ordinance on first reading and Mr. <br />Mihalkanin seconded the motion. Ms. Hughson stated the Legislature has <br />raised the authority to $25,000, but questioned if the Council had the <br />option to leave the authority at $15,000. Mr. Taylor advised the Council <br />they have that option. On roll call the following vote was recorded: <br /> <br />AYE: <br /> <br />Montoya, Chiu. <br /> <br />NAY: <br /> <br />Mihalkanin, Hughson, Tatum. <br /> <br />ABSTAIN: <br /> <br />None. <br /> <br />The motion failed. <br /> <br />Mayor Chiu introduced for consideration reconsideration of a Zoning <br />Ordinance. The Council did not wish to reconsider this Ordinance.
