Introduction <br /> The San Marcos community has access to multiple <br /> recreational facilities.These types of amenities contribute <br /> to a higher quality of life and, in some cases, can help <br /> attract new businesses and families to the city.A summary <br /> of the existing recreation programs and events are <br /> provided in this section.Activities include multiple youth <br /> camps,enrichment classes,fitness classes,and special <br /> events throughout the year. <br /> 1 Existing Conditions <br /> The San Marcos Activity Center is located east of <br /> downtown, near the San Marcos River. Some of the <br /> amenities offered include: <br /> • Basketball courts <br /> - • Racquetball courts <br /> • Stationary bicycle studio <br /> _ • 1,800 sq.ft. aerobics studio <br /> • Athletic program registration <br /> • Natatorium <br /> • Meeting rooms <br /> • 2,000 sq.ft.weight training room with 26 <br /> • eresistance machines <br /> • Childcare room <br /> -- • Small activity classroom(multipurpose room) <br /> • Commercial kitchen <br /> • Dance floor <br /> • Fitness classes <br /> • Walking corridor <br /> • Cardio equipment <br /> Daily use fees are charged for both San Marcos residents <br /> and visitors,with a higher rate assessed to the latter. <br /> Youth under the age of 17 can use the facilities at a <br /> reduced rate.Yearly memberships are also offered and <br /> include family memberships, individual memberships, <br /> ••" senior memberships,and youth memberships. <br /> °, The <br /> , The facility also consists of three assembly rooms that <br /> 411-, can be rented either individually or together as one large, <br /> OA 6,000 sf. ballroom. Other rooms that can be rented are <br /> the multipurpose room and the commercial kitchen.
