MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, TEXAS, OCTOBER 8, 2001 PRESENT: Mayor David Chiu Mayor Pro-Tern Deputy Mayor Pro-Tern Council Members Jane Hughson Joe B. Womack City Attorney Mark Taylor Director of Parks and Recreation Rodney Cobb Director of Env. and Engineering Laurie Anderson Fire Chief Dan O'Leary Police Chief Steve Griffith Director of Finance Bill White Director of Public Works Richard Mendoza Director of Water/Wastewater Tom Taggart Director of Human Resources Carolyn Liner Director of Planning and Dev.Servs.Ron Patterson Also Present: Shelley Goodwin, Stephanie Garcia, Richard Garza, Susan Narvaiz, John Boswell, Sherri Russell, Hill Rylander, James Frye, Yolanda Quintanilla, Joe Castillo, John James, Elvin Holt, Pam Dever, Sue Cohen and others. Mayor Chiu called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. Mayor Chiu introduced the Citizen comment period. James Frye of the San Marcos Fire Department advised the Council the firefighters had collected $11,500.00 in San Marcos to help the New York City Fire Department and their families for their losses sustained in the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks on the United States. Mayor Chiu introduced for consideration approval of one appointment Youth Commission. There were no nominations, and this will be rescheduled. Mr. Mihalkanin requested the City Manager contact the District to provide a name to fill this positiono to the School Mayor Chiu introduced for consideration approval of three appointments to the Human Services Advisory Board. Ms. Hughson moved to appoint Sonya Lopez (Social Service Degree) and appoint Terry Pacheco, which passed unanimously. The remaining appointment will be rescheduled.
