<br />95. <br />Regular Meeting <br /> <br />October 22, 2001 <br /> <br />Page 10 <br /> <br />Ms. Hughson moved for adoption of the Resolution with amendment to add <br />Jacob Montoya, Community and Economic Development Policy Committee, and <br />Paul Mayhew, Energy, Environment and Natural Resources Policy Committee, <br />and Mr. Cox seconded the motion, which passed unanimously. <br /> <br />Mayor Chiu introduced a discussion regarding the acceptance of DeZavala <br />Street for City maintenance. Mr. Gilley stated when the street was <br />constructed, it met the City's standards. The width does not meet the <br />current standards. In response to Ms. Hughson's inquiry, Mr. Gilley <br />stated under current laws, the School District would be required to build <br />to City standards. Mr. Mihalkanin stated he would be against taking over <br />maintenance of this street because of the costs. Mayor Chiu stated City <br />residents use this roadway to connect Hwy. 123 to Staples. Mr. Cox stated <br />he thought the City should take over maintenance of thi~ street as a <br />service to the community and to the School District. Mr. Gilley was asked <br />if this would set a precedent if the City were to accept this street. Ms. <br />Hughson stated she did not believe the School District should be in the <br />business of maintaining streets. Mayor Chiu stated the City has equipment <br />to maintain streets and the School District's business is to educate <br />children. Mr. Mayhew stated we needed to add this to the list of what the <br />City does for the School District. In response to the earlier inquiry if <br />accepting this street from the School District would set a precedent, Mr. <br />Taylor advised it would not. <br /> <br />Mayor Chiu introduced the City Council's Report. <br />this meeting. <br /> <br />There was no report at <br /> <br />Mayor Chiu introduced an Executive Session pursuant to the Government <br />Code, Section 551.074, to discuss the evaluation of public officers (City <br />Manager, Municipal Court Judge, City Clerk, City Attorney) and duties of a <br />public officer (City Manager). Mr. Mihalkanin moved the Council adjourn <br />into Executive Session at 9:30 p.m. and Mr. Mayhew seconded the motion, <br />which passed unanimously. <br /> <br />Mr. Mihalkanin moved the Council reconvene at 10:19 p.m. and Mr. Cox <br />seconded the motion, which passed unanimously. <br /> <br />Mr. Mihalkanin moved to reconsider Item 21, approval to set Council <br />Meeting dates in November, considered earlier in the meeting (Page 9), and <br />Ms. Hughson seconded the motion, which passed unanimously. Mr. Mihalkanin <br />moved to change the meeting date set November 13 to November 15, 2001 at <br />7:00 p.m. and Mr. Mayhew seconded the motion, which passed unanimously. <br />
