Marty Sorell stated he is <br />the current President of the San Marcos Neighborhood Association and he supports the Edwards <br />Aquifer Regulations Ordinance. He stated the Council unanimously supported the approval of <br />the first reading and would like the Council to vote unanimously in support to approve second <br />reading and adoption of third reading. 2. Paige Bishop stated the Council needs to be cautious <br />about the Edwards Aquifer Regulations Ordinance. Ms. Bishop handed copies to the Council of <br />a recent article in the Austin American Statesman stating a chemical contaminant called MTBE, <br />which causes cancer, is in the Austin's drinking water. 3. Dan Praver thanked the Council for <br />the new stop signs at North Street and San Antonio Street; San Antonio Street and Harvey; and <br />Comanche Street and San Antonio Street and for the approval of the Edwards Aquifer <br />Regulations Ordinance on first reading. He encourages the Council to make the regulations as <br />tough as possible. Mr. Praver stated it is a good idea for the Council to have the Aquarena <br />Springs issue on the May ballot so the citizens can decide what is best for Aquarena Springs. 4. <br />Allison Faucett stated her support of the Edwards Aquifer Regulations Ordinance. She <br />encouraged the Council to consider limiting impervious cover to not exceed 15%. 5. G. Don <br />Rains stated his opposition regarding the expansion of the Activity Center. The citizens of San <br />Marcos did not vote for expanding the Activity Center or to have free weights. 6. Jim Neuhaus, <br />owner of Jim's Gym, stated his opposition of expanding the Activity Center and his recent <br />decline of business throughout last year. 7. Russell Ponds, General Manager of SLAM, stated he <br />would like to invite everyone to the first basketball game on Thursday, March 2, 2000 at Strahan <br />Colisuem at 7:00 p.m. 8. Bryan Anderson, representative of Earth First from SWT, stated the <br />Council Chambers needs to be expanded instead of the Activity Center. He commended the <br />Council for completion of the Edwards Aquifer Regulations Ordinance, and the impervious <br />cover needs to be amended to not exceed 15%. 9. Rolland Hesselroad, Neighborhood <br />Association, stated that the Edwards Aquifer Regulations Ordinance needs to be passed on <br />second reading and the growth of San Marcos should be East of IH 35.
