<br />32. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />Special Meeting May 9,2000 Page 2 <br /> <br />unanimously. <br /> <br />Mayor Moore introduced for consideration adoption of an Ordinance on emergency, the caption <br />which was read as follows: <br /> <br />AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, <br />TEXAS, ORDERING A RUNOFF SPECIAL ELECTION BY THE CITY TO BE HELD <br />ON JUNE 3, 2000 FOR THE PURPOSE OF ELECTING A CITY COUNCIL <br />MEMBER, PLACE 6; ESTABLISHING EARLY VOTING LOCATIONS AND <br />POLLING PLACES FOR THIS ELECTION; MAKING PROVISIONS FOR THE <br />CONDUCT OF THE ELECTION; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. <br /> <br />Mr. Doiron moved for adoption of the Ordinance on emergency and to amend by deleting <br />"Electing a Mayor, a City Council Member, Place 5" and Mr. Moseley seconded the motion, <br />which passed unanimously. <br /> <br />Mayor Moore introduced for consideration adoption of a Resolution, the caption which was read <br />as follows: <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, <br />TEXAS, APPOINTING PRESIDING JUDGES AND ALTERNATE JUDGES TO <br />SERVE IN A SPECIAL RUNOFF ELECTION BY THE CITY TO BE HELD ON JUNE <br />3, 2000; CHANGING THE JUDGES WITH THE DUTY TO HOLD THIS <br />ELECTION IN THEIR RESPECTIVE POLLING PLACES FOR EACH PRECINCT; <br />APPOINTING AN EARLY VOTING BALLOT BOARD; APPOINTING A <br />PRESIDING JUDGE OF THE CENTRAL COUNTING STATION, A TABULATION <br />SUPERVISOR OF THE CENTRAL COUNTING STATION, AND A CENTRAL <br />COUNTING STATION MANAGER; APPROVING THE APPOINTMENT BY THE <br />PRESIDING JUDGE OF THE CENTRAL COUNTING STATION OF CERTAIN <br />CLERKS; APPROVING THE APPOINTMENT BY THE TABULATION <br />SUPERVISOR OF CERTAIN ASSISTANTS; APPROVING THE APPOINTMENT BY <br />THE EARLY VOTING CLERK OF CERTAIN DEPUTY EARLY VOTING CLERKS, <br />AND D ECLARIN G AN EFFECTIVE D ATE. <br /> <br />Mr. Moseley moved for adoption of the Resolution and Mr. Doiron seconded the motion, which <br />passed unanimously. <br /> <br />Mayor Moore issued Certificates of Election to Paul Mayhew, Council Member, Place Five, and <br />David Chiu, Mayor. Patsy Mayhew administered the Oath of Office to Paul Mayhew and Judge <br />Becky Sierra administered the Oath of Office to David Chiu. <br /> <br />Mayor Chiu introduced for consideration the election of the Mayor Pro-Tempore and Deputy <br />Mayor Pro-Tempore.
