Jane Wilson, <br />who resides at 117 Oakridge Drive, stated there is a concern with the water situation and <br />San Marcos continues to build apartment complexes and at the same time the citizens of <br />San Marcos are expected to practice water conservation. 15. Bob Spears, who resides at <br />726 W. Hopkins Street, stated he is opposed to the Carson rezoning and feels that the <br />traffic problem must be resolved. 16. Doug Smith stated he has been in California for <br />several years now and is back in San Marcos. He has seen what high density can do to <br />neighborhoods in California and does not want this to happen in San Marcos. There is <br />plenty of land elsewhere in San Marcos that can be developed for apartment complexes, <br />but Wonder World Drive is not the proper location for this. He urges the Council to vote <br />no for this zoning change. 17. Bob Bartels stated the Carson's request for zoning will <br />not add jobs to San Marcos and urges the Council to vote no for this issue. 18. Carol <br />Coughlin stated the fence at Spring Lake Dam needs to be removed. Ms. Coughlin stated <br />the number of votes for the City to look into purchasing Aquarena Springs was very high <br />and the City needs to rush on this matter. The Texas Parks and Wildlife has been <br />interested in purchasing this property, but she feels the park will be ruined if they acquire <br />this land. She challenged the Council to help the community grow and keep the quality <br />of life. 19. Amy Kirwin stated she would speak at the public hearing for the Carson <br />rezoning request. 20. Scott Walker stated he would speak at the public hearing for the <br />Carson rezoning request. 21. Joe Schneider stated he would like the Council to table the <br />Ordinance on third and final reading regarding the obstructions in alleys until further <br />review can be done. 22. Pierre Deribes stated he has lived in San Marcos for fifteen <br />years and the Carson request for rezoning would increase the current problems, 23. <br />Lewis Wilks stated the Carson's request would bring heavy traffic and that is already a <br />problem for San Marcos. 24. Pat Miller stated the Carson's request would create more <br />traffic and that part of town does not need more traffic. The schools in that area have <br />already created heavy traffic of buses and would not be safe for the children. 25. Cheryl <br />Mc V ey was not present. <br />Mayor Chiu introduced for consideration one appointment to the Senior Citizens <br />Advisory Board. Mr. Hernandez moved to appoint Ed Rincon, which passed <br />unanimously. <br />Mayor Chiu introduced for consideration one appointment to the Development Ordinance <br />Review Task Force. Ms. Hughson stated some members need to be replaced and wants <br />to recommend some changes to the task force. This appointment will be rescheduled for <br />June 12,2000 when the Ordinance will be placed on the agenda for review. <br />Mayor Chiu introduced for consideration one appointment to the Convention and Visitors <br />Bureau. Ms. Hughson moved to appoint Paul Mayhew to fill a vacancy for Council <br />Member representative.
