maintained in good condition, but may not be otherwise altered. A nonconforming off <br />premise sign will have its nonconforming status terminated if the sign, or a substantial <br />part of it, is blown down or otherwise destroyed, or dismantled for any purpose other than <br />routine maintenance or for changing the letters, symbols, or other matter on the sign. For <br />purposes of this subsection, a sign is considered to have been destroyed only if the cost of <br />repairing the sign is more than 60 percent of the cost of erecting a new sign of the same <br />type, material, and dimensions at the same location. <br />(d). CEVM signs in operation as o f , 2008. A CEVM sign in operation <br />as of the above date shall be considered a legal nonconforming sign as to location, size <br />and height restrictions; however, said suns shall be subi ect to the operational standards <br />of this code as they exist or shall be amended in the future. <br />Section 6.3.3.1 Construction and Maintenance <br />(a) Compliance With Codes. All permanent signs shall comply with the City building <br />and electrical codes. <br />(b) Certification Required. The design of freestanding signs over 25 feet in height <br />above ground level shall be certified by a professional engineer for structural <br />integrity. <br />(c). Electric Signs. Electric signs shall have an accessible disconnect switch and shall <br />be labeled to indicate the voltage and amperage of electrical circuits connected to <br />the sign. <br />(d). Maintenance Required. Signs shall be maintained in good condition, including <br />replacement of defective or missing parts, painting and cleaning, and replacement <br />or covering of sign faces that exhibit damage or deterioration. <br />(e) Safety Hazard. A sign determined to be a hazard to public health and safety shall <br />be subject to enforcement under Section 6.3.2.4 of this article. <br />~ CEVM signs. Each CEVM sign shall each be certified by the manufacturer that it <br />does not exceed the standards established by this Chapter or the Technical Manual <br />and the sign owner or operator shall accept, construct, maintain, and operate the <br />sign within the established standards as a condition of maintainen the sign <br />ep rmit• <br />~ En forcernent. When a sign determined to be out of compliance the sign's owner <br />or went will be brovided thirty (30) days to repair or replace the sign.
