<br />Regular Meeting <br /> <br />February 11, 2002 <br /> <br />87. <br />Page 13 <br /> <br />suburbs, which covered residential parking, parking in yards, boats in <br />yards, and boats in streets. Mr. Cox stated in several of the City's <br />discussions the citizens have stated a concern about duplex parking. Mr. <br />Cox stated he met with Mr. Mihalkanin, Mr. Gilley and Mr. Taylor regarding <br />strengthening the City's existing Ordinance or creating a new Ordinance. <br />Mr. Mihalkanin stated most citizens are concerned about their property <br />values and neighbors using their front yards as storage areas. Mr. Cox <br />stated with the Council's approval, he, Mr. Mihalkanin and any other <br />Council Member, would like to meet with neighborhood representatives and <br />discuss this issue. The Council agreed by consensus for Mr. Cox and Mr. <br />Mihalkanin to meet with the neighborhood representatives regarding this <br />lssues. <br /> <br />Mayor Chiu introduced the City Council's Report. (1) Ms. Hughson asked <br />the Council if anyone was interested in looking into no smoking in public <br />places which Mr. Whitaker had spoken about in the Citizen comment period. <br />Mr. Cox stated he was interested in looking at different municipalities' <br />Ordinances pertaining to no smoking in public places. Staff will explore <br />the City of New Braunfels' Ordinance, to help strengthen the City's <br />Ordinance to eliminate secondhand smoke. (2) Mr. Montoya asked who tags <br />cars left on the side of roads and how long before an abandon vehicle is <br />towed. Mr. Gilley stated the City has adopted an abandoned vehicle <br />Ordinance and if anyone has questions whether or not a vehicle is <br />abandoned, they should call the Police Department. <br /> <br />Mayor Chiu introduced an Executive Session pursuant to the Government <br />Code, Section 551.071, to seek the City Attorney's advice regarding <br />pending litigation, contemplated litigation or other matters (Gary v. City <br />of San Marcos; duplex zoning districts); and Section 551.074, to discuss <br />the duties of public officers (Mayor and City Council Members). Mr. <br />Mayhew moved the Council adjourn into Executive Session at 10:02p.m. and <br />Ms. Hughson seconded the motion, which passed unanimously. <br /> <br />Mr. Mihalkanin moved the Council reconvene at 10:38 p.m. and Mr. Montoya <br />seconded the motion, which passed unanimously. <br /> <br />The meeting adjourned at 10:39 p.m. on motion made by Mr. Mihalkanin and <br />seconded by Mr. Mayhew. <br /> <br /> <br />David Chiu <br />Mayor <br /> <br />Ed Mihalkanin <br />Council Member <br /> <br /> <br />~--' <br />
