Regular Meeting January 14, 2002 Page 14 <br /> <br />Mayor Chiu introduced for consideration Item 20 removed from the consent <br />agenda, adoption efa Resolution, the caption which was read as follows: <br /> <br /> A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, TEXAS, <br /> APPROVING THE 2001 AIRPORT MASTER PLAN PREPARED BY COFFMAN & <br /> ASSOCIATES; AND DECLARING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. <br /> <br />Hr. Mayhew moved for adoption ef the Resolution and Ms. Tatum seconded the <br />motion. Hr. Mihalkanin made a motion te add the San Harces Horizon Plan as <br />a document source en page 1-22 in the San Marces Municipal Airport Master <br />Plan and Hr. Mayhew seconded the motion, which passed unanimously. The <br />Council then voted unanimously for adoption of the Resolution. <br /> <br />Hayer Chiu introduced for consideration Item 21 removed from the consent <br />agenda, adoption efa Resolution, the caption which was read as fellows: <br /> <br /> A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, TEXAS <br /> EXPRESSING THE CITY'S SUPPORT FOR A STATE AIRPORT FOR CENTRAL TEXAS <br /> IN SAN MARCOS; AND DECLARING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. <br /> <br />Hr. Mayhew moved for adoption of the Resolution and Ms. Tatum seconded the <br />motion. Ms. Hughsen inquired te the status of the Airport if the City's <br />offer to establishment efa State Airport at the site ef San Marces <br />Municipal Airport was accepted by the State. Ms. Huffman stated if the <br />San Marcos Municipal Airport were chosen as the State Airport for Central <br />Texas, then the property would need to be transferred to the State. <br />Colonel Dishman, a member of the Airport Commission, stated although the <br />Airport puts a quarter efa million dollars into the revenue fund, it <br />would take Bends and alet ef support te develop our Airport into a major <br />airport. If the City's Airport were chosen as the Central Texas Airport, <br />then the State would be responsible for the development into a major <br />airport. He also stated the Texas Department of Transportation wants the <br />Central Texas Airport te be close te Austin. Georgetown has declined the <br />offer to establish the Central Texas Airport at their airport site. Ms. <br />Hughsen stated she wants the City te offer the San Marces Municipal <br />Airport ena temporary basis. Colonel Dishman stated Mr. Nash has spoken <br />to the Texas Department ef Transportation about accepting the Airport <br />temporarily. Mr. Doughty, Director ef the San Marces Airport, stated the <br />Resolution was written with the intent the Airport would revert back to <br />the City. Ms. Hughsen made a motion to add wording te Part 1 of the <br />Resolution reflecting a temporary basis and Hs. Tatum seconded the motion, <br />which passed unanimously. The Council then voted unanimously for adoption <br />ef the Resolution. <br /> <br />Hayer Chiu introduced discussion items. Due te the length ef this <br />meeting, the City Council delayed the discussion en Board and Commission's <br />attendance policies, and the consideration of approval ef appointments te <br />the Convention and Visitors Bureau Beard. <br /> <br /> <br />
