Regular Meeting January 14, 2002 Page 15 <br /> <br />Mayor Chiu introduced a discussion regarding the Activity Center <br />Hembership and Use Fees and direction to staff. Ms. Hughsen suggested <br />this discussion item be sent back to the Parks and Recreation Advisory <br />Board for their consideration and recommendations. <br /> <br />Mayor Chiu introduced a discussion regarding a request te video record the <br />San Marces Area League of Women Voters' Candidate Debates and te transmit <br />them on the local cable TV channels. Ms. Hughsen stated Ms. Headley, <br />President of the San Marcos Area League of Women Voters, has sent her a <br />request to video record both the fall and spring elections in San Marcos <br />and Hays County, and transmit the debates en the local cable TV channels. <br />Hs. Huffman stated she has been in contact with beth Grande and Time <br />Warner about transmitting the debates. Ms. Hughson stated since both <br />local cable TV channels are interested in the recording ef the debates, <br />then beth companies could take turns taping and sharing the tapes. Ms. <br />Huffman stated she would make the suggestion te both companies. <br /> <br />Hayor Chiu introduced a discussion regarding increase ef the number ef <br />Police Officers assigned to neighborhood patrol and direction to the <br />staff. Mayer Chiu suggested this discussion be postponed until after the <br />budget process meeting in February. Mr. Cox stated he was concerned about <br />certain neighborhoods, but wants this discussion item postponed se the <br />Council can receive a report from Chief Griffith as te what increases have <br />already occurred. <br /> <br />Hayor Chiu introduced the City Council's Report. Ms. Tatum stated she <br />serves en the Pulse Organization, a part ef Gary Job Corps, which has <br />expressed a desire for mere involvement in the community. The <br />Organization would like Council te offer direction te the Youth Commission <br />to add a position for a Gary Job Corps community relatien's <br />representative. The Council agreed and gave staff direction te bring back <br />the Commission Ordinance to reflect the proposed change. Mr. Cox stated <br />he would like another discussion regarding parking regulations in <br />residential areas.
