Regular Meeting January 14, 2002 Page 15 Mayor Chiu introduced a discussion regarding the Activity Center Hembership and Use Fees and direction to staff. Ms. Hughsen suggested this discussion item be sent back to the Parks and Recreation Advisory Board for their consideration and recommendations. Mayor Chiu introduced a discussion regarding a request te video record the San Marces Area League of Women Voters' Candidate Debates and te transmit them on the local cable TV channels. Ms. Hughsen stated Ms. Headley, President of the San Marcos Area League of Women Voters, has sent her a request to video record both the fall and spring elections in San Marcos and Hays County, and transmit the debates en the local cable TV channels. Hs. Huffman stated she has been in contact with beth Grande and Time Warner about transmitting the debates. Ms. Hughson stated since both local cable TV channels are interested in the recording ef the debates, then beth companies could take turns taping and sharing the tapes. Ms. Huffman stated she would make the suggestion te both companies. Hayor Chiu introduced a discussion regarding increase ef the number ef Police Officers assigned to neighborhood patrol and direction to the staff. Mayer Chiu suggested this discussion be postponed until after the budget process meeting in February. Mr. Cox stated he was concerned about certain neighborhoods, but wants this discussion item postponed se the Council can receive a report from Chief Griffith as te what increases have already occurred. Hayor Chiu introduced the City Council's Report. Ms. Tatum stated she serves en the Pulse Organization, a part ef Gary Job Corps, which has expressed a desire for mere involvement in the community. The Organization would like Council te offer direction te the Youth Commission to add a position for a Gary Job Corps community relatien's representative. The Council agreed and gave staff direction te bring back the Commission Ordinance to reflect the proposed change. Mr. Cox stated he would like another discussion regarding parking regulations in residential areas. Mr. Mihalkanin agreed and asked staff te leek at ether Municipalities' Ordinances for parking in residential areas.
