Sec. 2.512. ; destr-uetion ofTmeords u '' <br />Destruction or disposition of records. <br />(a) <br />Library and Arehives C; hall be adopted by the reeords managemerA <br />offieer- fef use in the City, as provided by law. Any destmetion of feeords of the <br />Gity will be in aeeordanee with these sehedules and the Loeal Government Reeor-ds <br />Aet-The records liaison officer shall notify the records management officer when <br />a City record is eligible for destruction. <br />(b) Areeerdseonifel seh„ 1 1 far- depaAme-nt vvr iehhas been <br />approved and adopted under seetion 2.506, or- 2.512(a), shall be implemented by <br />department heads and reeords liaison offleers aeeofding to the poheies and <br />pro ^edufes of the records management p! +.-Before a City record is destroyed under <br />an approved records control schedule, the records management program <br />administrator must obtain authorization for the destruction from <br />the records management committee unless the approved schedule specifies that the <br />record may be destroyed without additional review or authority of the records <br />management committee. <br />(c) A r eor whose ietentio periodhas expired on » feeef s eon re <br />sehedule shall be destroyed unless an open feeofds fequest is pending on the feeor-d, <br />the subjeet matter- of the r-eeofd is peAinent to a pending law stfit, or the depaftme <br />head fequests in vffiting to the Feeords management eommittee that the reeafd be <br />retained r^r .,n additional period. A City record whose retention period has expired <br />on an approved records control schedule must be destroyed unless: <br />(1) a request for the record is pending under the Texas Public <br />Information Act Tex. Government Code Chapter 552, <br />(2) the record is pertinent to pending litigation or audit; or <br />(3) a department director requests the City Clerk in writing and states <br />the reason that the record be retained for an additional period, and <br />the request is approved in writing by the City Clerk; or <br />(4) The records management officer determines that the record must be <br />held pending review for historical value. <br />(d) Prior to the destruetion of a eeora under an appfaved re <br />eontrol sehedule, authorization for the destruetion must be obtained by the r-eeords <br />management offieer from the r-eeords management eommittee. A City record that <br />is obsolete or that has not been identified on an approved records control schedule <br />may be destroyed if: <br />
