On roll call the following vote was recorded: <br /> <br />AYE: <br /> <br />Mihalkanin, Montoya, Hughson. <br /> <br />NAY: <br /> <br />Chiu, Cox, Mayhew, Tatum. <br /> <br />ABSTAIN: <br /> <br />None. <br /> <br />The amending motion failed. The Council then voted for adoption of the <br />Resolution. On roll call the following vote was recorded: <br /> <br />AYE: <br /> <br />Montoya, Chiu, Cox, Mayhew, Tatum. <br /> <br />NAY: <br /> <br />Mihalkanin, Hughson. <br /> <br />ABSTAIN: <br /> <br />None. <br /> <br />Mayor Chiu introduced the City Council's Report. <br />1) Ms. Tatum stated she had received an email from a Shawn Murphy <br />regarding improvements on San Antonio and MLK street. She stated these <br />improvements are taking place in front of the Corridor Business Incubator <br />parking lot, which has forced patrons of his business to park in front of <br />CBI. Ms. Tatum also stated these patrons receive a ticket and feels these <br />tickets should be dismissed. Mr. Gilley stated he has discussed this <br />issue with the staff and in the future, the staff has agreed to coordinate <br />and make accommodations in similar situations. Mr. Gilley stated he will <br />talk to Mr. Taylor regarding the citations and let Mr. Murphy know how to <br />deal with the citations. 2) Mr. Montoya stated during the Council Meeting <br />held on May 13, 2002, Ms. Pope spoke during the Citizen comment period. <br />He stated Ms. Pope spoke regarding the San Marcos riverbanks and the need <br />for improvements along the river for safety reasons. Mr. Montoya inquired <br />to whether other Council members were interested at looking into this <br />issue. Ms. Hughson stated the Leadership San Marcos did look into putting <br />steps along the river as one of their projects, but found it was very hard <br />to make anything happen. Mr. Mihalkanin stated he felt this issue needs <br />to be expressed during a public hearing in the annual budget process. Mr. <br />Mayhew stated Smoking in Public places is another issue, which needs to be <br />addressed. Mayor Chiu stated he understood one of the grants the City is <br />applying for through the Corps of Engineers, would address some of the <br />river improvement issues. Mr. Gilley stated if the grant is approved, <br />then the Habitat Conservation Plan the City is working on would address <br />some of these issues. <br /> <br />The meeting adjourned at 10:13 p.m. on motion made by Mr. Montoya and <br />seconded by Mr. Miha1kanin. <br />
