City Council Meeting Minutes February 24, 2021 <br />credit. <br />The motion carried by the following vote: <br />For: 7 - Mayor Pro Tem Derrick, Mayor Hughson, Council Member Baker, Council Member <br />Gonzales, Deputy Mayor Pro Tem Scott, Council Member Garza and Council <br />Member Gleason <br />Against: 0 <br />20. Consider approval of Resolution 2021-40R, expressing the City Council's support for <br />exploring the possibility of a collaboration with the Indigenous Cultures Institute in <br />establishing an Indigenous Cultures Center, including exploring the possibility of joining <br />with the Indigenous Cultures institute in applying for Hays County Parks and Opens <br />Space Bond funding and providing City property for this project; and declaring an <br />effective date. <br />Council held discussion regarding the benefit of the project but some noted it <br />may not be applicable for the Parks and Open Space Bond project. <br />A motion was made by Mayor Pro Tem Derrick, seconded by Council Member <br />Baker, to approve Resolution 2021-40R. The motion carried by the following <br />vote: <br />For: 5 - Mayor Pro Tem Derrick, Mayor Hughson, Council Member Baker, Deputy Mayor <br />Pro Tem Scott and Council Member Garza <br />Against: 2 - Council Member Gonzales and Council Member Gleason <br />21. Consider approval of Resolution 2021-43R, approving the City Council's Strategic <br />Initiatives for Fiscal Year 2021-2022; and declaring an effective date. <br />MAIN MOTION: A motion was made by Mayor Pro Tem Derrick, seconded <br />by Council Member Baker, to approve Resolution 2021 43R. <br />Mr. Lumbreras stated the Council's Strategic Initiatives report includes topics <br />that were presented by council members during the visioning workshop. He <br />thanked staff that compiled the report. <br />Mayor Hughson stated what is being presented include a number of items that <br />staff were to look into in order to provide the feasibility of the new items. She <br />isn't ready to call this ready for approval. Mr. Lumbreras would like to <br />receive consideration on the strategic initiatives and then build the final report. <br />Mr. Lumbreras asked Ms. Reyes to address the process. <br />Ms. Reyes stated after Council adopts the strategic initiatives, staff will work <br />with subject matter experts in the specific areas.
