<br />Hays and Caldwell Counties, the Austin-Round Rock MSA, and the San Antonio-New
<br />Braunfels MSA have all been identified as areas where socioeconomic changes
<br />could play a significant role in influencing future aeronautical activity at the airport.
<br />It should be noted that the San Marcos Regional Airport currently attracts tenants,
<br />based aircraft, and aeronautical users from all of these areas. As a result, it is
<br />important that the socioeconomic trends of each of these areas are evaluated to
<br />identify potential impacts on the airport. Socioeconomic information for the State
<br />of Texas and the United States will be used primarily for comparative purposes.
<br />P OPULATION
<br />Population growth can be directly tied to the success and growth of an airport
<br />supporting a given population set. Consequently, population trends, and their
<br />expected rate of change, .
<br />Table 3-1 shows the historic population figures and estimates for Hays and
<br />Caldwell counties, the San Antonio-New Braunfels Metropolitan Statistical Area
<br />(MSA), the Austin-Round Rock MSA, the State of Texas, and the United States
<br />between 2010 and 2017.
