City Council Meeting Minutes July 6, 2021 <br />some groups, while targeting the San Marcos Police and Fire departments. <br />Nancy Rowell, spoke in opposition regarding 47 on the lobbying ordinance. <br />She would like Council to vote no and defeat the biased attempt to favor some <br />groups while targeting San Marcos Police and Fire departments. <br />Roland Saucedo, President of Together for a Cause, would like Council to <br />reconsider staff recommendation on item #37. He stated the program for <br />displaced and homeless began in October 2020. He provided statistics that <br />families have been placed in 86 units from October to present. 13 families have <br />reunited, 28 have transitioned through the program and 17 individuals have <br />transitioned. Mr. Saucedo shared statistics and he assists through navigating <br />through resources from the State. <br />Tom Handy, spoke against item #7 regarding the lobbying ordinance. <br />Jordan Buckley, spoke regarding the accident that killed Jennifer Miller <br />involving Officer Hartman. He expressed concern with the timing of the <br />internal investigation. Mr. Buckley stated he should be held accountable. <br />Jack Irwin, expressed concern with the item #7 regarding the lobbying <br />ordinance. She would like Council to vote no since this is an attempt to favor <br />some groups, while targeting the San Marcos Police and Fire departments. <br />CONSENT AGENDA <br />A motion was made by Council Member Gleason, seconded by Mayor <br />Hughson, to approve items 1-3, 5, 6, 8-18, and 21-25. Items #4, 7, 19, and 20 <br />were pulled and considered separately after the public hearings. The motion <br />carried by the following vote: <br />For: 7 - Mayor Pro Tem Derrick, Mayor Hughson, Council Member Baker, Council Member <br />Gonzales, Deputy Mayor Pro Tem Scott, Council Member Garza and Council <br />Member Gleason <br />Against: 0 <br />Consider approval, by motion, of the following meeting minutes: <br />A. Consider approval of Ordinance 2021-40, on the second of two readings, annexing into <br />the City approximately 21.73 acres of land generally located 1,500 feet West of the <br />City of San Marcos Page 4 <br />
