Mayor Pro Tem Derrick seconded the motion. <br />The motion to amend carried by the following vote: <br />For: 7 - Mayor Pro Tem Derrick, Mayor Hughson, Council Member Baker, Council Member <br />Gonzales, Deputy Mayor Pro Tem Scott, Council Member Garza and Council <br />Member Gleason <br />Against: 0 <br />Mayor Hughson thanked Mr. Pantalion, Ms. Kelsey Jordan Lee, Mr. Sam <br />Aquirre, Mr. Cosentino, and all other city staff and the Greater San Marcos <br />Partnership staff who worked on this agreement including this afternoon. <br />Council Member Baker expressed concern with the climate crisis report and <br />the company's reliance on fuel. Mr. Pantalion stated the company is interested <br />in electric vehicles in the future. <br />MAIN MOTION: to approve Resolution 2021-157R, as amended. <br />For: 6 - Mayor Pro Tem Derrick, Mayor Hughson, Council Member Gonzales, Deputy Mayor <br />Pro Tem Scott, Council Member Garza and Council Member Gleason <br />Against: 1 - Council Member Baker <br />21. Consider approval of Resolution 2021-158R, setting a maximum <br />proposed Tax Rate of $60.30 cents per $100 taxable value; and <br />declaring an effective rate. <br />A motion was made by Council Member Baker, seconded by Mayor Hughson, <br />to approve Resolution 2021-158R. <br />Mayor Hughson stated this agenda item is the first step in the City setting the <br />2021 property tax rate. The Resolution sets a proposed maximum tax rate. <br />The Council may ultimately adopt a tax rate lower than the one set out in this <br />Resolution. This action is needed so the City can provide notice to the public <br />of the final adoption of the tax rate scheduled for September 21, 2021 to allow <br />the public sufficient opportunity to comment on the proposed tax rate. <br />City of San Marcos Page 15 <br />
