Mrs. Betty Wolverton will be the member who is a citizen <br />of San Marcos who has demonstrated an interested in the history and <br />heritage of San Marcos. <br /> <br />Mayor Craddock then introduced for consideration approval of appoint- <br />ments to the Belvin Street Historical District of two members who <br />"shall be property owners within the district". Mr. Kreczmer moved <br />that the names placed in nomination prior to the meeting, Mrs. Betsy <br />Martindale and Mr. N. A. Stedman, be approved as the two members of <br />the district and Mr. Brown seconded the motion, which passed unani- <br />mously. <br /> <br />Mayor Craddock introduced for consideration approval of appointments <br />to the Fair Housing Commission. Prior to the meeting two names had <br />been placed in nomination for the Commission, James E. Smith, who <br />was eligible to be reappointed, and Brenda Smith. Mr. Cavazos moved <br />that the five members of the Commission whose terms were expiring be <br />reappointed to the Commission to continue serving another term, as <br />the members had never held a meeting in their prior terms, and Mr. <br />Brown seconded the motion. <br /> <br />Mr. Kreczmer then moved that this item be tabled until such time the <br />Council had 5 nominations to consider appointing. There was no second <br />and the motion failed. <br /> <br />Mr. Brown then moved that the resolution adopted by the Council limit- <br />ing the terms members can serve on commissioffi be amended to allow this <br />Commission to continue serving more than two terms and instruct the <br />City Attorney to bring that Resolution to the Council at the next <br />regular meeting. Mr. Brown did not move that the five members serve <br />another complete term but just continue serving for some shorter period <br />of time. The City Attorney advised him it would not be necessary to <br />amend the Resolution if the Commission members would not be serving <br />another term, so Mr. Brown withdrew his motion. <br /> <br />On roll call of Hr. Cavazos' motion, seconded by Mrs. Norris, the <br />following vote was recorded: <br /> <br />AYE: <br /> <br />Brown, Cavazos, James, Craddock, Mendez and Norris. <br /> <br />NAY: <br /> <br />Kreczmer. <br /> <br />ABSTAIN: <br /> <br />None. <br /> <br />The City Secretary was instructed to contact the five members whose <br />terms are expiring to see if they wish to continue serving on the <br />Board. Their names are Dan Farlow, James E. Smith, Margie Villapando, <br />Ollie Giles and Geneva Gomez. In the event they are all not willing <br />to continue serving, the vacancies will be brought before the Council <br />at a future meeting. <br /> <br />Mayor Craddock introduced for consideration appointments of five mem- <br />bers to the Parks and Recreation Board. On roll call the following <br />vote was recorded: <br />
