City Council Meeting Minutes December 15, 2021 <br />presentation three times. She stated a council member requested data <br />information and still has no answer. She expressed concern with the accuracy <br />of the maps. She mentioned there is no sidewalk on Bishop. She stated staff <br />wants quick fix solutions that are more costly to taxpayers and dangerous to <br />cyclists. She would like to make sure the maps are accurate. <br />Gabrielle Moore, she is happy that the city has implemented bike lanes on <br />Hunter Road and she feels safe riding on the road. She stated there is no data <br />because there is no connectivity on bike lanes. She spoke regarding Craddock <br />scheduled for overlay and she stated they met with engineering to implement <br />bike lanes because there has been complaints from the police department on <br />speeding and there is not enough staff to enforce. Other issue is Monterrey <br />Oaks she doesn't understand why there is turn lanes and no bicycle lanes for <br />kids to ride their bikes to school. <br />Benny Rice, spoke in support of majority of amendments. He stated he is <br />happy Post Road has a bike lane and gave him access to downtown and the <br />library. He stated Craddock corridor amendments makes sense with different <br />connections. <br />Katie Deolloz, stated bicyclists should have a sense of safety and if more can <br />be done with sidewalks to mitigate opportunities that can change lives, it needs <br />to be done. She would like to see more mobility within the community. <br />Thanked council, staff and Planning and Zoning commission for taking this <br />item seriously and for considerations. <br />Irene Foelschow, she stated they ride bikes to the small HEB and mentioned <br />she has been hit by a car. She appreciates for making bicyclists safe and <br />protected. She would like council to consider more production for bicyclists. <br />There being no further speakers, Mayor Hughson closed the Public Hearing <br />7:18 p.m. <br />A motion was made by Council Member Baker seconded by Council Member <br />Prather, to approve Ordinance 2021-96, including the items proposed by the <br />Planning and Zoning Commission, on the first of two readings. <br />Mayor Pro Tem Scott expressed concerns with Post Road small and narrow <br />and will need to partner with the County to widen and make it safe buffer lane. <br />There is a lot of bike activity, especially on weekends. He mentioned Thorpe <br />Lane and where to put a bike lane. We should not be taking out the center <br />City of San Marcos Page 7 <br />
