28 <br />City of San Marcos Arts Master Plan <br />PROMOTION AND ADVOCACY: <br />Increase Community Awareness of Programming <br />Stakeholder Survey Recommendations (with average score): <br />Develop a cohesive cultural agenda and arts calendar.(4.8) <br />San Marcos needs an interactive, communicative arts website that allows for <br />easy linkages.(4.7) (Done: Facebook page) <br />San Marcos currently has no centralized hub of arts info, and the website for arts <br />needs tobe redeveloped and updates with arts email-blasts going out to <br />interested community member announcing events.(4.7) <br />Create a mechanism for getting the word out about arts events other than a <br />website such as a monthly calendar posted at the coffee shops.(4.5) <br />Second Town Meeting <br />Recommendations: <br />Create a central <br />application (PDF) for <br />artists/vendors for <br />festivals, available on <br />city website. <br />Increase Community <br />Support of the Arts <br />Stakeholder Survey <br />Recommendations (with <br />average score): <br />Create an affiliate <br />multi-disciplinary arts <br />organization in San Marcos that serves as an advocacy organization for the arts. <br />(4.2) <br />Second Town Meeting Recommendations: <br />Initiate a city-wide arts coalition. <br />Support artists’ basic needs living in a community. <br />Involve local businesses. <br />Efforts to Distinguish San Marcos as an Arts and Culture Destination <br />Stakeholder Survey Recommendations (with average score): <br />The San Marcos music scene should be promoted as a Texas Music hub given <br />the popularity of Cheatham Street Warehouse and the new Texas Music Theater. <br />(4) <br /> <br />
