b. At the time of final inspection, the meter sockets shall be labeled with permanent labels that are <br />of such a quality that the readability of the labels will not be affected by the environment. A list <br />of acceptable marking and labeling devices is available at the San Marcos Electrical Utility <br />Department. <br />(6) The service mast shall have at least two points of attachment to the building. One point of attachment <br />must be within twelve (12) inches of the service equipment. The service equipment may not be used <br />to meet this requirement. <br />( Ord. Permits; licensing. <br />(a) A person applying for a building (electrical) permit shall be: <br />(1) A licensed electrical contractor under state law; or <br />(2) Exempt under state law from the licensing requirement. <br />(b) A state licensed electrical contractor shall register with the city once a year and show proof of the state <br />license and insurance before any work is performed within the city. <br />(c) If a building owner is claiming an exemption under state law because he or she is planning to do the work <br />him or herself, then the owner shall provide an affidavit to the building official stating that he or she owns <br />and resides in the dwelling. <br />( Ord. LICENSING AND REGISTRATION OF RESIDENTIAL, GENERAL AND <br />TRADE CONTRACTORS <br />Sec. 14.370.1 Definitions. <br />Abandonment Pursuant to 105.5 of the International Building Code or R 105.5 of the International Residential Code <br />a permit becomes expired through inactivity of the construction work for 180 days. A lack of scheduled building <br />inspections demonstrating progress is evidence of abandonment. <br />Perform To cause to be completed with one's own hands, or with help from employees or subcontractors. <br />Sec. 14.371. Prohibited acts. <br />A person who violates this section commits a misdemeanor and is subject to a fine of not less than $250.00 upon <br />conviction per occurrence.
