Exhibit 1 -SCOPE
Hopkins/Guadalupe Intersection Enhancements
The City of San Marcos (City) would like to retain engineering services for improvements to the
Hopkins Street/Guadalupe Street intersection. The services for this phase of the project consist
of final design, bidding and construction phase services. It is our understanding the City wishes
to reconstruct the northwest and southwest curb ramps of the intersection, update traffic signal
infrastructure to accommodate the reconstruction of the curb ramps and the future lane
configuration, installing pedestal poles with APS push buttons for each crosswalk, and revise
striping between Fredericksburg Street and LBJ Drive. The final design phase will consist of
plans, specifications, and estimate(PS&E) of the proposed intersection improvements consisting
of traffic signal infrastructure, curb ramps, pedestal poles with APS push buttons, and pavement
marking. It is our understanding that the proposed improvements will be covered under the City's
maintenance agreement with TxDOT and no formal review by TxDOT will be performed. It is our
understanding the improvements will be constructed by the City's Public Works Department and
the City's Indefinite Deliverable Indefinity Quantity (IDIQ) Contractor and the improvements will
not be put to public bid.
Information to be provided by the City
The City will provide following information to the Engineer and/or perform following tasks related
to the project:
• Existing reports or data the City has on file concerning this project, including existing and
forecasted traffic volumes.
• Any available as-built plans for the intersection, roadways, signals, pavement markings,
and public utilities
• Any available as-built plans for O/H and underground utilities within the project area
• Any available parcel and/or topographic mapping information of the project area; any
available survey information of the project area
• Current or standard industry costs used by the City for unit pricing as well as cost
estimates
• Fees associated with approvals and/or permits from entities if approvals deemed
necessary
• City IDIQ contract with specifications, unit prices and items
