4. Reconvene and Consider Action on Item Discussed Durinsz Executive Session. <br />The San Marcos City Council reconvened into regular session at 7:01 p.m. on Tuesday, <br />April 1, 2008. The following direction to staff was required from Executive Session: <br />Direction was given to the consultant regarding the City Manager search. <br />5. Invocation <br />El Buen Pastor Santiago Heredia of the United Methodist Church provided the <br />invocation. <br />6. Pledge of Allegiance <br />Eagle Scout Kyle McPhail, Troop 256, led the assembly in the pledge and spoke briefly <br />on his Eagle project. <br />7. Citizen Comments <br />There were no citizen comments. <br />8. Staff Reports <br />Collette Jamison, Interim City Manager, reported that the Council will act on clarification <br />on the land development code exempting development and permit fees. She emphasized <br />that this does not include impact or tap fees. She also honored Stephanie Garcia for her <br />incredible job since November as the Interim Economic Development Director. <br />Mayor Narvaiz reported on behalf of C.J. Morgan. Several students from Texas State <br />will be attending the discussion in College Station for the Best Practices in Building <br />University -City Relationships. This will tie in with the community policing discussions. <br />Discussion on the student liaison position will be placed on the May agenda. <br />9. City Council Reports <br />Kim Porterfield presented a video produced by Texas State students on Bobcat Build <br />Building Tradition, Texas State at Your Service. This will be the sixth year for Bobcat <br />Build, and there will be 3,200 students participating in 100 sites. <br />Gaylord Bose reported that he had attended the opening of the Yarrington overpass last <br />Saturday. It will be a great asset to the community, and he commended the construction <br />people, contractors and developers for doing outstanding, quality work. <br />Daniel Guerrero reported that he had attended the Science Extravaganza on Saturday and <br />the College Forward Program, which brought in the families of first- generation college <br />PDFConvert.2653.1.RM040108 Minutes.doc <br />Page 2 of 7 <br />
