Provide recommendation to award letter
Assumptions
- Final design will begin in 2024 and will be completed in 2025. If design extends into 2026,
estimated effort will be subject to rate escalation and may require additional funds.
- UPRR Coordination will be led by the City. Existing UPRR bridges will not be replaced to
support this project. UPRR support activities exclude visual or tactile inspection, condition
assessment of the bridge, non-destructive testing or geophysical testing of the existing UPRR
bridge. UPRR structural scope is limited to analysis of the existing UPRR bridge for the "As-
Built" condition except for the seismic analysis (Texas is in a low seismic zone in general and
therefore seismic analysis is not considered to be the worst case loading condition). Any
repair/retrofit/strengthening of bridge structure/component and design of new bridge
structure/component is excluded from the scope of work.
- Traffic design is excluded from the project scope as it is not anticipated based on the 30%
Purgatory Channel Improvements design.
- Headwall adjustments for the existing storm sewer outfalls to Purgatory Creek have been
included in the Purgatory Channel design but do not include storm sewer evaluation and/or
upsizing or significant changes to energy dissipation devices already in place.
- The existing sanitary sewer crossing at Mitchell Street will be able to be converted to a drop
manhole and flow by gravity to the existing downstream sewer inverts WITHOUT a siphon
crossing.
- A storm water pollution prevention plan (SWPPP) report is not included in this scope. The
SWPPP has been proposed to be included in the construction plan set as detailed in the sheet list.
City Responsibilities
The City shall designate a single representative to have authority to issue instruction, receive
information, interpret, and define city policies and make decisions with respect to Consultant's
activities.
- The City will attend meetings with Consultant, provide feedback, and participate in the services
to the extent necessary to allow Consultant to perform the services requested.
- The City will obtain all necessary right-of-entries.
- UPRR bridge as-builts will be provided by the City; if as-builts are not available for the existing
UPRR bridges additional scope will be required to define the "As-Built" condition including
subsurface definition of exiting bridge foundations. UPRR Permit, Flagging and Insurance Fees
to be paid by the City.
