Training Options
In addition to the training that goes with on-site installation services, Eka Systems offers its
customers the following options for training personnel on the system:
• Custom training workshop. Training workshops are tailored to the customer's specific
system installation, configuration and training needs. Workshops are held at Eka
Systems in Germantown, Maryland, or at another mutually agreeable location.
• Quarterly training workshops. Eka Systems conducts quarterly training workshops at
its facilities in Germantown, Maryland. These workshops are aimed at supervisors
and other individuals with responsible for daily maintenance and system operations.
This option is ideal for customers who have not selected on-site services, and for
those who have selected on-site services and want to train new employees on an
ongoing basis.
Workshop cost is included in the customer's Maintenance Agreement (cost of travel and lodging
for participants is the responsibility of the customer). For customers who choose not to purchase
a full Maintenance Agreement, there is a fee for the Workshops (plus travel, lodging, and
personal expenses).
For customers who want to have their employees attend workshops at a location other than Eka
Systems, the instructor's travel, lodging, and expenses are divided equally among the workshop
participants to arrive at an additional per-participant charge.
For customers who want to have system training delivered by their own personnel, Eka Systems
offers a "train-the-trainer" option. This enables the customer to provide ongoing in-house
training as needed, independent of Eka Systems.
Sample System Training Outline
The standard Eka Systems training course can be customized to meet specific customer needs.
For example:
For customers preparing to install an EkaNet system: Units 1-8 (the full course).
• To train personnel to work with an installed EkaNet system: Units 1, 2, 6, 7 and 8.
• To train personnel to expand an existing EkaNet system: Units 3, 4, 5 and 8.
When the full course is presented, it might split as follows:
• Day 1: Units 1-4
• Day 2: Units 5-7
• Day 3: Unit 8 (half-day)
Unit 1: Overview
Unit 2: EkaNet system architecture
Unit 3: Planning the system
Unit 4: Deploying the system
Unit 5: Hands-on lab: Setting up a small network
Unit 6: Hands-on lab: Using the Network Manager
Unit 7: Hands-on lab: Troubleshooting the network
Unit 8: Customer-specific discussion
Advanced Metering Infrastructure Agreement Page 37
