Documentation
With the installation of the system each customer receives appropriate quantities of the
following:
• System Approval Packet -Comprehensive descriptions of the system including
equipment specifications, file descriptions, and PC software specifications.
• Reference Manuals -Complete, detailed instructions in the functions and use of the
system are included User Manuals.
• Hardware Component Handbooks -Easy-to-use reference handbooks detailing
handheld functions, data entry, and other component operations.
In addition to the initial system documentation, customers receive our newsletter, the Eka
Systems EkaNetTM, and customer service bulletins with descriptions of the latest available
product updates, usage tips, articles about how other customers use their systems, and other
information of interest to system users.
Acceptance Testing
This phase of the installation, which includes inspection and testing of hardware and software as
well as customer acceptance of the system, is an intensive effort conducted concurrently with the
on-site portion of the installation. Together, while both are at the installation site, Eka Systems
and the customer have a chance to examine the system in detail. The customer participates in the
entire process and is able to observe the operation of the system, noting problems, if any, so they
can be resolved early.
The system and its associated software are then tested. The following is a Sample Test Plan:
1. Transferring data, with the assistance of customer personnel, from the host computer
system or mainframe to the system personal computer.
Note: Obtaining and installing any hardware or software required for file transfer from the
host computer system to the PC and vice versa, is the responsibility of the customer. Eka
Systems can recommend file transfer packages as requested.
2. Manipulating the data transferred to the PC according to the previously set data
loading and unloading configurations.
3. Testing EkaNet Networking functionality.
4. Checking the reporting system functions.
5. Transferring data from the PC back to the host computer system or mainframe.
6. Testing any custom software components (if applicable).
At the completion of Acceptance Testing, any additional requirements beyond the scope of the
approval packet can be discussed.
For customers who do not select on-site services but do select a full Maintenance Agreement,
assistance with installation and testing procedures is available over the Eka Systems toll-free
support line.
Advanced Metering Infrastructure Agreement Page 36
