Pre-Deployment Analysis
To ensure that the system closely matches the customer's needs, a Project Manager is assigned
and meets with customer representatives to discuss the proposed Eka Systems software and
hardware system. A time, date, and location of this meeting are set. During the pre-installation
analysis, the project is defined and understood in detail, enabling Eka Systems to tailor the
system to the specific needs of the customer. Completion of apre-deployment questionnaire
provides information regarding specific operations and the format of the customer's data. The
Project Manager meets with customer representatives about the requirements of the system.
At this time, Eka Systems discusses plans for the communications interface, the hardware and
software components of the system, and any other questions that arise.
Approval Packet Preparation
After the pre-deployment analysis, the planned system is documented and assembled in an
Approval Packet (an Approval Packet is prepared even if the customer has not selected on-site
services).
The Approval Packet contains information gathered during the pre-installation analysis and other
discussions with the customer. This information reviews the existing system, the proposed
system (including hardware configurations and software requirements), and how the system is
integrated into daily operations.
The purpose of the Approval Packet is to give the customer the opportunity to review all of this
information, as Eka Systems understands it, and to make sure the understanding is mutual.
Customer Approval
When complete, the Approval Packet is sent to the customer for review and approval. If there
have been any misunderstandings, they are cleared up through further discussion or revisions to
the existing documentation. After approval, arrangements are made for hardware delivery and
installation, including dates and location of training.
System Installation and Training
For customers who have selected on-site services, the Eka Systems Project Manager goes on-site
and is responsible for the following tasks:
Inspecting Eka Systems equipment for any shipping damage.
• Training the appropriate staff in hardware, software, and operations of the system on
the personal computer.
• Instructing the appropriate staff in the proper use and care of hardware components.
• Observing staff proficiency in system operations and use of the Eka Systems
hardware, as well as the integration of the system into daily operations.
• Repeating, practicing, and reviewing the above steps until an appropriate comfort
level is reached.
• During this phase the system documentation is delivered, and any of several training
options can be exercised.
Advanced Metering Infrastructure Agreement Page 35
