ATTACHMENT D
Eka Systems Installation and Training
Introduction
The quality and performance of a proposed system are only as good as the company that supports
the system. Eka Systems brings to each new customer its unequaled experience in AMI/AMR
networking, superior designed equipment, and a commitment to total system support over the life
of the system.
When an order for an EkaNet System is received, several elements of the Eka organization
immediately begin working to ensure a successful installation:
• Customer Support develops a project plan and installation schedule.
• Sales works closely with Customer Support to ensure that all of the customer's pre-
installation concerns have been addressed and are reflected in the planning.
• Manufacturing adds the hardware requirements to its schedule to ensure that all
equipment is available when the installation date is set.
Installation Process
Regardless of the size or complexity of the installation, our goal is to deliver a system that
operates as expected, is compatible with existing systems, and is smoothly integrated into daily
operations as quickly as possible and to the customer's complete satisfaction. The exact process
by which we achieve this goal depends, of course, on the specifics of the installation.
Installation involves these major steps:
Pre-Deployment Analysis
Approval Packet Preparation
Customer Approval
System Installation and Training
Acceptance Testing
Included within each of these steps are several options, especially in the Pre-Deployment
Analysis step and Training. For example, a customer requiring a small, standard system may
elect to forego the pre-deployment analysis. Training can be done either at the customer's
facility concurrent with the installation or in regularly scheduled classes held at the Eka Systems
facilities in Germantown, Maryland. We also offer a "train-the-trainer" option in which
customer personnel are taught to deliver the training.
The typical time for system installation is 120 days; however, depending on the size and
complexity of the system, the installation can take anywhere from a few days to a few months.
All tasks and milestones are scheduled and agreed to in advance between Eka Systems and the
customer.
Keep in mind that
Planning is the key to a successful system installation.
Advanced Metering Infrastructure Agreement Page 34
