<br />PROPOSED REVISION TO <br />CITY CHARTER SEC. 7.01 <br />PLANNING AND ZONING COMMISSION <br /> <br />NOW READS: <br /> <br />Sec. 7.01. <br /> <br />Planning and zoning commission. <br /> <br />The council shall appoint a city planning commission and a city <br />zoning commission by the beginning of the fiscal year 1982-83, each <br />consisting of seven (7) ~embers who shall be residents of and own <br />real property in the city and serve without compensation. <br /> <br />An ordinance shall be adopted by the council before appointing new <br />members to ensure broad representation and expertise on both <br />commissions. <br /> <br />Two (2) persons nay serve on both commissions. <br /> <br />On the effective date, members of the former planning and zoning <br />commission shall be given the opportunity to serve their unexpired <br />terms on at least one of the new commissions. <br /> <br />REVISED TO READ: <br /> <br />Sec. 7.01. <br /> <br />Planning Commission and Zoning Commission. <br /> <br />(a) The council shall appoint a city planning commission consisting <br /> <br />of seven (7) <br /> <br />members, at <br /> <br />leas t <br /> <br />five <br /> <br />(5) of <br /> <br />whom <br /> <br />shall <br /> <br />be <br /> <br />residents <br /> <br />of <br /> <br />and <br /> <br />own real property in the city, and at least <br /> <br />one (1) of whom shall be a resident of and <br /> <br />own <br /> <br />real <br /> <br />property <br /> <br />within <br /> <br />the <br /> <br />extraterritorial <br /> <br />jurisdiction <br /> <br />of <br /> <br />the city. <br /> <br />The <br /> <br />remaining member shall be a resident of either the city or <br /> <br />the <br /> <br />extraterritorial jurisdiction of the city. <br /> <br />(b) The <br /> <br />council shall appoint a city zoninq commission <br /> <br />consisting <br /> <br />of <br /> <br />seven <br /> <br />( 7 ) <br /> <br />members <br /> <br />who shall be residents of and own real <br /> <br />property in the city. <br /> <br />(c) The council <br /> <br />shall <br /> <br />seek to <br /> <br />ensure <br /> <br />broad <br /> <br />representation <br /> <br />and <br /> <br />expertise in making appointments to the planning commission and <br /> <br />zoning commission. <br /> <br />(d) Members of the commissions shall <br /> <br />serve <br /> <br />without <br /> <br />compensation. <br />
