PUBLIC INVOLVEMENT AND SUPPORT-ATTACHMENT D

{i EF BELT '..LIAN CE
1? 01 t
Mayer Susan Narvaiz
City of San Mares
630 east Napkins Street
San Marcos, TX 78666
This is a letter in support of the City of San Marcos Cross-Town Pathway as a
proposal to the Texas Department of Transportation's Texas Enhancement Program
Mayor Narvaiz,
What a joy it is to think that we might realize The City of San Marcos Cross-
Town Pathway. In our role as supporters of parks and open space we hear
from many bicycle and pedestrian users who have been patiently waiting for
this improvement to our bi-ped system. We believe there are a number of
reasons to prompt are enthusiastic endorsement of the city's pursuit of
funding and development of this transportation link.
The Crass-Town pathway will provide a central interconnecting link when
combined with the other bi-ped elements overwhelmingly approved in the
2005 bond election and currently in design and development. All together
they will help users of every description enjoy the many benefits of
commuting, walking, biking, strolling, etc.
We also want to ensure protection for our river and its riparian zone as a
sensitive ecology and a cultural icon. The proposed plan can be properly
executed to do both. Acditionally, we believe the pathway will add to the
pride and aesthetic pleasure to be gained from our magnificent river.
Thank you for appreciating the value of the Cross-Town Pathway as a
functional transportation alternative and enhancement to our river system.
We are confident it will quickly become one of the primary elements of our
overall transportation system and a thread in the fabric of our community
identity.
4,
Todd 0.
