PUBLIC INVOLVEMENT AND SUPPORT-ATTACHMENT D
T S TATS
UNI'VERSIT'Y
S.A?N MARCOs
The rising STAR of Texas
November 30, 2009
Mayor Susan Narvaiz
Ciry of San Marcos
630 East Hopkins Street
San Marcos, TX 78666
Re: Letter of Support for City of San Marcos Gross-Town Pam way - A Bicycle and
Pedestrian Transportation Corridor TX-DDT's Texas Enhancement (TE) Program
Dear, Mayor Narvaiz:
I wish to express my support for the City of San Marcos' application to the Texas Transportation
Enhancement (TE) program entitled, "City of San Marcos Cross-Town Pathway - A Bicycle and
Pedestrian Transportation Corridor." This proposed 1.75 mile ADA compliant bicycle and
pedestrian pathway along the San Marcos River will link City trails with Texas State University
bicycle and pedestrian trails.
In the past two years, San Marcos has had 32 auto/pedestrian collisions and 19 autolbicycle
collisions, many of these involving University students. The Cross-Town Pathway will provide a
transportation route for the public to safely access all parts of the city and university via bicycle
and pedestrian paths, thus reducing vehicular traffic, and improving bicycle safety.
I appreciate the work and planning the city staff is putting into this effort.
Sincerely,
Ra'ph C klcy2r
Director, UrLversity Police Depam-rent
U. svERStaY£'tvlja.
Drive [ F --i d:tiv =d Suite ?
