Bambi Martin stated she thinks the students and <br />parents would help pay. John Sharp states he now drives to Austin <br />and pays $5.00 to skate and would be willing to pay $5.00 to skate <br />in San Marcos. Beau McDaniel stated he thinks an outside skate <br />facility would be cheaper and would be acceptable. The students <br />indicated they primarily want a dancing facility at night and in the <br />summer have games. Mandy Cobarruvias stated Dunbar could be used <br />for this purpose and that skateboard users need to wear protection <br />and sign releases. Alex Valdes asked if the University paid taxes <br />to the City and stated the University Police do not want skateboards <br />on their property. He thought the State might possibly donate land <br />for a skateboard park. Cary stapp stated indoor skateboard <br />facilities are needed. Aaron Robbins stated indoor skateboard <br />facilities are needed, and that some other areas are dangerous. Mr. <br />Gilley will look into these facilities and funding possibilities. <br />Ms. Kissler stated to keep in mind the senior citizens are also <br />looking for an available location. <br /> <br />Mayor Morris introduced for consideration a public hearing and <br />adoption of a Zoning Ordinance, the caption which was read as <br />follows: <br /> <br />AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, <br />TEXAS, AMENDING THE OFFICIAL ZONING MAP OF THE CITY BY ZONING <br />0.94 ACRES BEING A PORTION OF FARM LOT 15, ORIGINAL TOWN OF SAN <br />MARCOS, HAYS COUNTY, TEXAS, LOCATED AT 715 WEST HOPKINS STREET, <br />FROM "M" (SINGLE-FAMILY, DUPLEX AND NEIGHBORHOOD BUSINESS <br />DISTRICT) TO HOP" (OFFICE-PROFESSIONAL DISTRICT); AND DECLARING <br />AN EFFECTIVE DATE. <br /> <br />Mayor Morris opened the public hearing and asked if anyone wished to <br />speak for or against the zoning amendment. No one did, so Mayor <br />Morris closed the public hearing. Mr. Hart moved for adoption of <br />the Zoning Ordinance and Mr. Hernandez seconded the motion. Mary <br />Martinez stated the adjoining property would probably be zoned the <br />same at a later time. The Council voted unanimously for adoption of <br />the Zoning Ordinance. <br /> <br />Mayor Morris introduced for consideration a public hearing and <br />adoption of a Resolution, the caption which was read as follows: <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, <br />TEXAS, AMENDING THE FUTURE LAND USE MAP OF THE MASTER PLAN OF <br />THE CITY, FROM PERMANENT OPEN SPACE AND/OR FLOODPLAIN TO <br />COMMERCIAL FOR A 0.7 ACRE PARCEL OF LAND OUT OF A 1.383 ACRE <br />TRACT OF LAND IN THE J. M. VERAMENDI LEAGUE #2 TO THE CITY OF <br />SAN MARCOS, HAYS COUNTY, TEXAS, LOCATED AT 701 CHEATHAM STREET, <br />AND DECLARING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. <br /> <br />Mayor Morris opened the public hearing and asked if anyone wished to <br />speak for or against the amendment. No one did, so Mayor Morris <br />closed the public hearing. Mr. Hernandez moved for adoption of the <br />Resolution and Ms. Kissler seconded the motion, which passed <br />unanimously. <br /> <br />Mayor Morris introduced for consideration approval of an Ordinance <br />on first reading, the caption which was read as follows: <br /> <br />AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, <br />TEXAS, AMENDING SECTION 18-7 OF THE SAN MARCOS CODE OF <br />ORDINANCES TO ADD FEES FOR THE SUMMER PLAYGROUND PROGRAM, AND <br />TO INCREASE USER FEES FOR RIO VISTA SWIMMING POOL AND FOR <br />CARNIVALS/CIRCUSES, AND DECLARING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. <br /> <br />Ms. Kissler moved for approval of the Ordinance on first reading and <br />Mr. Hart seconded the motion. Mr. Hernandez moved the pool <br />admission fee remain 50 cents and Mr. Moore seconded the motion. <br />Mayor Morris stated she was in favor of the fee being $1.00, as the <br />admission should be equitable. Gail Fields stated large families <br />could not afford $1.00 admission, and the City should increase the <br />fee for the playground program. Mr. Cobb advised the Council <br />
