<br />90. <br /> <br />Regular Meeting <br /> <br />September 8, 2003 <br /> <br />Page 12 <br /> <br />He provided information regarding the possibilities of using the Rio Vista <br />Pool for an aquatic playground. Preston Tatum stated the Fountain People <br />are interested in working with the City to improve the pool. He stated <br />they are interested in having a working playground so they can use it to <br />show their potential customers. He stated the Fountain People are <br />interested in donating a large portion of the cost. Mr. O'Leary stated <br />the Rio Vista Pool is in need of some big repairs. He also stated if the <br />Council chooses to pursue the Water Odyssey project, then the renovations <br />could be combined together. He stated the changes in the Health Code <br />could prevent the City from opening the pool next year in its present <br />condition. He stated the renovations are estimated at $1,270,000.00, and <br />the Fountain People are willing to contribute $120,000.00 in equipment. <br />Mr. Mihalkanin stated he feels the Council needs to discuss the Rio Vista <br />Pool at the next Regular Council Meeting. The Council agreed by consensus <br />to agendize the Rio Vista Pool to be heard at the next Regular Council <br />Meeting scheduled for September 22, 2003. <br /> <br />Mayor Habingreither introduced the City Council's Report. 1) Ms. Narvaiz <br />stated she is a part of the ENLASE Coalition, which helps Hispanic <br />students with scholarships. She stated the Juniors who took the pre-TSAT <br />test increased their Math scores twenty percent. She stated the High <br />School Principal will forward these test results to the Council. <br /> <br />Mayor Habingreither introduced an Executive Session pursuant to the <br />Government Code, Section 551.071, to seek the City Attorney's advice <br />regarding pending litigation, contemplated litigation, a settlement offer, <br />or a matter involving attorney-client privilege (San Marcos Hispanic <br />Chamber of Commerce tourism contract). Mr. Mihalkanin moved the Council <br />adjourn into Executive Session at 11:10 p.m. and Ms. Narvaiz seconded the <br />motion, which passed unanimously. <br /> <br />Mr. Taylor moved the Council reconvene at 11:35 p.m. and Mr. Thomaides <br />seconded the motion, which passed unanimously. <br /> <br />The meeting adjourned at 11:36 p.m. on motion made by Mr. Mihalkanin <br />seconded by Mr. Taylor. <br /> <br />N / /t#Gc <br /> <br />~tfl~~4~.... .. . <br /> <br />Susan Cllfford NarvalZ ( , <br />Council Member "-. <br /> <br /> <br />Council Member <br />
